Chernobug 2 The broken stutter game
1. “A whole lot of games work that way” doesn’t change that Chernobylite feels like a Souls clone right now

You said:

“I never said that stamina or dodge aren’t inspired by Dark Souls – it’s just that a whole lot of games work that way…”
Steam Community

That’s fine — many games use those mechanics. But I never said the presence of dodge or stamina is the problem. It’s the way they’re implemented in this game that makes Chernobylite feel like a ripped-off Souls game without the nuance or intentionality. Arguing “lots of games do it” completely sidesteps whether it fits your tone or design goals. That’s exactly the point I’ve been making.
2. “I asked for more info / agreed to three points…” – yet most responses boiled down to “wait,” “we already have X,” or “it’s your opinion”

You claim:

“For the vast majority of your points, I asked for more information; I agreed to three of them and said we would do them; in three others, I tried to engage in further discussion; and in two, I said that you can’t see them yet because it’s still in EA.”
Steam Community

Yet here’s what I summarized — based on your own words:

“Most of the dev’s responses boil down to:
Wait for the full release
We already have X in some form
That’s just your opinion”
Steam Community

That summary isn’t fabricated — it's exactly what your replies showed. Asking for more info or agreeing in principle doesn’t mean actual engagement happened — I repeatedly heard reframes, not reflections.
3. Early Access is not a shield from criticism of the current playable build

You say:

“I’m not going to change the fact that the game is in Early Access… game development is a process and some things simply can’t be done ‘by tomorrow.’”
Steam Community

I am fully aware of that, and I’ve never demanded fixes “by tomorrow.” But EA doesn’t mean “don’t critique the now.” It’s exactly when feedback matters most — Steam explicitly defines EA as an ongoing conversation about the current state. If loot feels generic, combat feels off, or world design feels hollow — that's criticism of the current implementation, which is not only valid but essential. Shielding your design decisions behind EA is misusing the concept.
4. Labeling my expectations as “irrational” is a deflection, not a defense

You said:

“If you question even such basic things, I can’t see this as rational behavior…”
Steam Community

That frames concern over core gameplay identity as pathologically irrational — which it’s not. I’m not judging your workload or deadlines. I’m evaluating what’s playable now: the combat loop, the loot, the world density, the enemy variety. These are fundamental design elements that can and should be adjusted during EA — that’s how the process is meant to work. Labeling such concerns as “irrational” is an ad hominem distraction.
