yeah, all those things that are supposedly bad in the video are exactly what makes hexen replayable decades later. same for heretic, especially when hunting for secrets.

if played once in a couple of years or so, hexen will reliably make you stop and look around/think for a second. and it has nothing to do with nostalgia, or not being able to accept progress/new things, it's actually something objectively very useful for all.

I think it's simply a matter of taste. I've always enjoyed Hexen, but I've also always enjoyed more exploration and simply didn't have trouble navigating and solving the puzzles, nor did I have any issues with backtracking as it never seemed that bad. But that simply isn't the norm, it would seem, and I can see why someone might not have the patience for backtracking through empty areas or get frustrated trying to find that one key or figure out what a vaguely worded switch did.

What bewilders me more between older and modern gaming is how accepting people can be of things like grinding, but draw the line at backtracking. IMO, the latter takes way less patience.

Maybe they messed something up with the latest patch, but this seems like a long standing issue. Are you all on EA Play, or do you actually own the game in your library?

One thing I noticed is every time it crashes it corrupts 3 files after verifying integrity of game files.

Those 3 files are just EAC related, they'll always be reacquired after verifying the game most times after you've played. That's normal and not the issue.

I have done pretty much everything at this point in time and the issue was never present for 2021. It only appeared late 22 or early 23. I resolved it slightly by getting rid of EA play interface or whatever and running the game as admin. That merely reduced crashes to once every 60-90 min.

It's the patch since the BF6 Beta that has made this crash for me every 5-9 mins. Likewise BF6 Beta weekend one, I might crash every 40-80 mins. Weekend two, well damn, every 20 mins (quicker on Empire).

About the only thing left which I haven't done is a full format and reinstall of windows. But I ain't doing that for ONE game, when the dozens of other games I play run fine. I also intend to get an entirely new system soon.

This issue has certainly been present for a while, it's just getting more and more pronounced. It's like it's related to Frostbite engine.

I'm totally at my wits end, I CBF'd with BF2042 in this state.

Let me save you the time on a reformat, I've done that and with only steam and bf installed it still does it!!!

It is a Bethesda game. Always keep several manual saves. There are no limits on the number of manual saves. Never rely on autosaves or quicksaves. Or cloudsaves. I'm not sure if there is a way to remove the effect except for reloading a save from before it happened.

Apparently the sisme command removes all visual effects on the screen, so that may work. But it also prevents any future effects, and disables things like Night Eye. Change the 0 to a 1 to enable it again. Might clear it, but no promises. Probably won't as it just disables the visual effects, but doesn't remove whatever is causing the effect in the first place.

Reading one of the scrolls again might reset the effect, and let it wear off naturally.

Oh yeah, now I'll be doing manual saves more often, because I didn't expect that when I was moving things in the chest I would accidentally read this scroll and start having problems that can't be solved except by loading the previous save that was already overwritten xD
I read the scrolls again, it didn't help either. I'll try other things if everything is gone, I'll have to spend a month of my life replaying 10 more levels... thanks.

The whole game is a poop. I regretted trying it in 2019, I regret giving it a second chance in 2025. Better play borderlands or warframe.

Mhm。I'm still hoping to get a fishing ability outfit that can catch all fish from one source at once。Fishing in many games is something I wish it didn't exist, because of the boring and unnecessary mini games。Fishing in Infinity Nikki is one of the more annoying ones, due to the spam clicking。

Maybe you can get yourself a trustworthy auto-clicker application, where you can adjust speed of clicks per second, while simply holding down one button。I want to warn you though, not all free to use auto-clicker apps are free without annoying ads, or another catch, so be careful which one you get, if you'd consider it。Sorry I can not recommend any right now, because I have no knowledge in them myself other than just knowing of their existence。
