X4 Diplomacy Update (8.00) - Public Beta Now Available
I had the game set to maximum when I started at the end of last year, but the high graphics don't help me when stations and ships are too small at certain distances to even be seen properly.

Which is why I immediately set the graphics to medium.

I had fog on medium before, and then set it to low because it looks nicer on the higher setting. There was a problem with the long-range scanner always causing the graphics card to run at maximum for a few seconds, at 60 FPS, which it shouldn't do when I only use 60 FPS. All games stick to the set limits, but for some reason this scanner causes this noise problem.

But I didn't experience any performance drops with the fog or long-range scanner either, just a graphics card that thought it had to run at maximum rather than get bored with medium graphics settings because it barely had anything to do.

At the beginning of this year, an update was released that fixed this fog problem. Since then, you can scan as much as you want. / Previously, it was a problem after scanning twice, and only in very few sectors after scanning three times.

But fog is generally always a problem in games; it often consumes too much performance.

---

The game is one of the few that offers the ability to adjust things to the extreme, but it can't implement them properly.

Which is why no PC can really handle it, because the game isn't properly optimized to implement all these things smoothly.

---

The game needs more adjustments to how it calculates the things that are there.

So, all the ships that are simulated, flying around from somewhere and doing things.

Things that you normally don't even see, unless you have satellites there, then they visually show what's being calculated, rather than just calculating them as values and only creating everything visually when the player enters a sector.

You can also fly seamlessly through a gate into another sector without any loading time. Only teleporting the character takes time, but that's only a visual effect, since even that works seamlessly no matter which sector.

So, the game calculates the entire universe at once.

Correct would be, so something you can't see is simply completely hidden and only calculated when it's revealed by something or when the player is in that sector. / But the game doesn't do that, it always shows everything, as if the player could be exactly there, or there, or there, or anywhere at any time. / As if the player were already everywhere at the same time.

These unnecessary calculations need to be improved; that's the stuttering that many Player often mean they have.

The universe simply has too much that's being calculated.
