Lean into the bleeds and pick up some control and manipulation cards. With most of the bleed application being up-close melee, you'll need to mitigate enemy counter attacks and the guys that follow you around the board. Dodges help with this and let you close on the Rifleman later. Throat Punch, Intimidate, Pocket Sand help with enemy counters. Redirect is good for the chasers and boss fights. Grapple is always great.

Personal preference: I always ditch Swap, Quick Block, Counter Stab, and Snap Strike as I think they just clog up the deck. I remove Jab after I get more momentum. I don't like Scratch as it's useless against any block at all.

Upgraded Hidden Blade + 3 Hit Combo is money. I also lean hard on Slash, Jumping Stab, and Puncture (ignores block). Upgraded Caltrops is my expensive guilty pleasure. 3 bleed (6 dmg) to everyone on the board regardless of block or dodge and no counter-attacks. Bloody Roar doubles it all. It's fun after a momentum upgrade.

I'm afraid I subscribe to the "kill them quick" school of thought, so while this may not apply to your playstyle the best advice I have for you is target priority. If your plan is to kite and play keep away, Gust 'Shrooms and Barknaughts are probably the biggest issues. Gust 'Shrooms can limit your movement options in an already enclosed area, but they're fragile enough that you can probably cut them down before they cut you off too thoroughly. Barknaughts, on the other hand, have a massive melee attack and are durable enough to be a headache. They're not too hard to parry, but they can be a pain to disengage from, especially in groups.

I did forget standard Grove, which may be foolish of me. I forgot because I take for granted that the priority targets are Maws. Above all else, no exceptions. They can't litter the place with poison pools if they're dead. Remember to be ready to parry a bite the moment you see them open wide. If there are no Maws, go for the most fragile enemy next, or whichever gives you the most trouble.

Other than that, there's a decent spot on the other side of the room from the switch, more or less right in front of you when you enter, where you have a decent amount of room and the spikes don't reach. You'll almost certainly be pushed out of that space in Hard Grove, but it's a good place to return to, or to just claim in standard.

It's not related to System Shock 2, though. It's just coincidence. Bethesda added to some of their past bundles. So anyone who owns those bundles will have found Heretic+Hexen in their libraries now. OP would have to do a little research to know which of the bundles they own.

Agreed. I would not want them voicing constant updated about all visible contacts. What I was trying to express was, and try to imagine, the watch crew alerts you to aggressive actions by escorts. But not constant updates. In easier modes of the game, that cartoonish exclamation point appears a few seconds before you are spotted. So make the watch crew sound off a few seconds after the escort responds to spotting you. Maybe a few seconds after if you have a full watch crew, longer if you don't. And not constant updates, but when the escort throttles up and turns, a few seconds later, Hans calls it out. End of story. You now know an escort has taken aggressive action against you, not a spoiler or cheat in my book, but what a watch crew would tell me. If another does, same story different bearing. I never really have more than 3-5 escorts in my spotted range as I am moving into a convoy on the surface. The only time I can imagine this getting annoying is when 10 escorts mob you while you are stuck on the surface and they are pounding you. At that point, game over anyway.

Nomad is easy but boring. Just beef up your warlord and that's about it. Not trash, but the rest of its cards take so long to get to a good state. Dragons can eventually wipe out the map, but it takes a long time.
