Performance issues INTEL (Pcore Ecore CPU desk laptop) for prospective buyers & player base. READ STORE Min CPU Spec.
Yo just bought this game recently as of yet i haven't had much issue or aleast been too busy playing to notice and because I am new to the game, I don't carry all the baggage long term fans hope this game can come through on.

READ THE STORE MIN. SYS REQUIREMENT.
Summary of wall of text below:- 12 gen laptop/mobile i5 and 13th+ desktop user who don't have 6 performance cores are at risk. This game is cpu demanding and suceptible to perfomance issues on nightmare waves. PS warhammer 40K def edition is a quad core requirement

Desktop 6 performance cores (not the same as intel core count) are probably risk ok at this time. search wikipedia it gives a beak down of whole intel family by gen to check your p&e cores and threads.

START HERE
I hung out in the steam community page a fair bit today as there is a alot of griefing going on, like just about every other form : > P. I haven't written a review for steam yet on this game because of this but will consider doing one.

RTS are CPU intensive NOT gpu intensive. and this title doesn't play well with less than 6 cores.

I have been through some real sh%^ show launches in other titles. I wanted to share the worse of these as being overwatch 2 launch, it was so messy AMD problems, intel problems memory leak issues, connection issues. nvidia problems, so many fires in different areas hard to know what related and what wasn't.

But I want to focus on the above forum topic. from my experience on that.
I had 2000 hours on OW, so was i excited to play OW2? YES! Did i try to get Intel desktop and laptop running? yes, using minimum spec machines, I did!

I was surprised to see no pages where found on ecores and HT in this community. the backstory as these definitely impacted intel CPU's in OW.

I have 2 quotes from diffrent threads in this forum.

I am absolutely shocked and blown away by how incredibly optimised this game is. I can play this game on an Intel Xenon 2680! You can get those chips for 5$! Sure its only 30 fps.

so here is ancient CPU using effectively a 10600 minimium spec of the game. Which is discribed as 6-core, 0 Ecores 6 Pcores and same cache which is the same as my I5 10600K, even though they are years apart.

lets take something more modern from a active grumbling, but massive RTS fan on this forum. especially from warhammer.

I've been supporting this game — and PlaySide — since January 2025. The team did a commendable job addressing hitching, micro-stutters, and other issues early on, and we truly appreciated those efforts. However, as time passes, overall performance seems to be declining again, with new issues cropping up. It’s frustrating to see such a promising title struggle to maintain the smooth experience it once delivered.....
Experiencing FPS drops during intense waves of nightmares, making plenty of units and structures — even on solid graphics cards like the NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4050 (stable overclocked & almost on par with RTX 4060's performance), ........These GPUs are more than capable, and the fact that performance tanks under load suggests deeper optimization issues. Especially when factoring in the interplay between 13th Gen, 14th Gen, and newer Intel CPUs, high-performance RAM configurations, evolving NVMe driver behavior, and complete overall rig optimizations............yet the game’s performance is underwhelming. That’s not the engine’s fault. It’s the execution that needs refinement. Players expect smoother gameplay, especially with the kind of hardware they’re using. Come on....

Don't worry I found there specs in a recent warhammer 40k definitive edition community post also complaining about fps drops and AHEM encouraging the developer to FIX IT! lol new pastures.

Ursprungligen skrivet av Tyvern:
....Here are my gaming rig specifications:

OS: Windows 11 24H2 Home Edition
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 6 GB (stable overclocked)
Processor: 13th Gen Intel Core I5-13420H clocked at 2.10 GHz - 4.6 GHz
RAM: 32 GB clocked at 5200 MHz
Drive: NVME 1 TB
...Please, fix this issue and optimize the game devs! I paid for this! We paid for this.

so this processor is more modern However it has two things going against it.
1) Its a laptop mobile processor
2) It is listed as a 8 core BUT its made up 4 Pcores and 4 Ecores

Ecores IMHO are inferior to Pcores they thermal thottle faster and have much reduced overheads.

there are plenty of videos on how to disable ecores for better perfomance on YT but that makes this system a quad core which is not ideal.
if you look at EACH core temperature ramp up you likley find under load your ecores are temperature throttling your entire CPU.

In OW2 launch this ecore caused problems for the launch on newer systems, also for Hyperthreading performance. eventually developer was doing temporary instructions for users limit thread counts and core counts in the .ini and cmd line launcher.

In my own experience for mobile i had to disable threads on laptop. in the end the developer blizzard upped the minimium requirement to quad core from dual.
That was a esport title....(little use of cpu). The more modern intel cpus with ecores where not performing as well as older non ecore models even with high end GPUs. Intel had overly complicated there cpu market IMHO as it was getting beat by AMD also it was and still remains a company in poor position from a cpu standpoint. its glory days of cpu dommance are over for now.

So yeah sorry I consider at best this processor to be borderline, and

i am cynical of intel so I don't consider this chip as IMHO meeting the minimium system requirement which was increased last year from what i can tell in the forums here.

intels massive variations and skus of pcore and ecores there too many configs for software developers from intel its a mess. you bought a poor product from this company
you demanding optimisation fixes from less than minimium spec requirement seems harsh.

So what to try if your a intel user to aid devs or improve your own experience

People update gpu drivers regularly but cpu not so much, For intel i run Intel drivers & support assistant webpage which will check All intel device and drivers on your system.

even as late as last year intel where releasing microcode power management on 13th+ gen. and some of you might have Uefi bios updates from your motherboard manufacturer to help with this, check there too.

If you have a unlocked cpu undervolting and lowering the TDP is one way I got better performance in OW2. For laptops and SFF its about taking taking heat out of the system not overclocking (speed up and adding heat into the system, such as our filipino residing friend above who stays in a place known to hot with overclocks). for those with desktops unlocked cpus how are the core temps during nightmares and multiplayer desyncs. do you have an overclock on have you tried disabling it.

For those without unlocked CPU MB bios allows ecore disabling for those who have 6 pcores you could try that.
or
there are programs that let you assign affinity (cores and threads on specific applications) via task manager.

there also messing with MB system bios PL1 and PL2 this can hardlimit the TDP on cpu for lower core temps..

I don't know how much people have done on cpu temps and I don't mean CPU package temps I mean individual core temps of each core. it is alot of work if you have issues.
but for ecore I suggest undervolting or reducing TDP to reduce temps on ecores see if under nightmare attacks you have less performance issues.

(PS if you have dxdiag and afterburner on individual cores pre and post patch. this data may be valuble to devs if you know what I have been talking about and can disable or undervolt cpu under a sustained load or PL1 and PL2). becase so far my old 6Pcore along with a ancient 6 core xenon don' have too much problem. last we heard alteast. and maybe its a case that its the newer chips that with higher core counts that have issues. BUT yeah quads cores forum not looking promising for you, this is how it was in OW2 also.
The minimum got raised cutting out budget and older dual cores, the quads older had better stability initally than the newer intels ecores.

this game also in min. spec has a MPS upload speed given the mumber assets in game on the move and the devs FAQ this is even more work for cpu in multiplayer.

Other contributors this year NVidea drivers in gaming news being more unstable than normal.

goodluck in your trials all and hope if you read all this and haven't bought the game yet it helps the risk of knowing what you could be getting into.
