How do you not have taxes? A mod? Or is that a setting you can choose if it's a private server? I can see this being an option for private servers, because for official servers, the main purpose is to make defunct bases disappear. As far as I know, every single survival game makes you log in to your base on a regular basis. In ARK, your base simply became raidable. Not really an issue on PvP servers, as people likely raided it before that time. On PvE server, it allowed people to raid it without destroying anything. Your Dinos also were now up for grabs. You would go up to them, and it told you to press E to claim them.

The point is, people weren't able to walk away from a base on those games, and come back months later when a DLC came out.

Often, the new people on our servers were there because a new DLC came out. Or a new ARK. They were always starting at zero. So I'm not sure why everyone is acting like this is some new thing to have to log in once in a while to keep their base in order. I've never played a survival game where that wasn't required. Maybe not on some private servers, but on official servers, bases decaying is always a thing, because people leave and leave their base there, intact. There has to be a mechanic to clean up the server.

You did realize you could get cards by crafting badges, and those badges needn't even be for games you own? I'm genuinely interested as to the reasoning if you did know that, because I'm not following why you did what it appears you did.
