Not long ago a lot of players even struggled to play pure vanilla right from the start for various reasons. For example because they ignored the minimum system requirements, or they ran out of (virtual) disk space and so on...
There are still some every now and then, but by far no longer that many than a year ago.

Therefore: First start completely minimalistic, pure vanilla, just to figure everything out.
If the game runs stable, even with bigger cities and with hourlong playsessions THEN you might at least try to use the most downloaded mods and/or the region packs - and only one by one.
Be aware: FIxing mod related problems is still a pretty mess and definitely not something for people who have absolutely no idea how to use windows or some of the Steam options.

16:10 as a resolution should be supported in general. Are you sure you have the correct resolution selected in Graphics settings?

Compared to the post release content from any game past 2020 its abysmal, but this game genuinely needs the work and they are just sitting around doing nothing. Oh but they added a 'dune' buggy that they cut a week before release

Right on. I would assume the other two individuals enjoy beat'em ups like I do. I grew up on Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo beat'em ups. I would suggest the first two commenters should get it since they were quick to comment on the notification.
