“Secure Boot not enabled. Please enable in BIOS.”

Uh… excuse me??? BIOS?? Like… that little black hacker screen from 1997???
Now I’m on YouTube watching 15-year-olds with anime profile pics tell me to “just toggle the UEFI mode” like that means anything to me. I’m pressing random F keys like I’m inputting a Mortal Kombat fatality, and nothing happens except my PC beeps at me like it’s mocking me.

I finally get into BIOS and it’s just… WALLS of settings. “CSM,” “UEFI,” “PK keys,” “fTPM” — what is this alphabet soup?? I’m just scrolling around like I’m lost in IKEA. Every guide says “it’s easy!” but then casually drops lines like “just delete your existing boot keys”. BRO. I don’t want to delete ANYTHING, last time I did that I couldn’t turn on my toaster for a week.

Meanwhile, my friends are already 3 matches deep in BF6, sending me clips of them doing backflips in tanks while I’m stuck in a blue and grey menu from Windows XP trying to “secure” my “boot.” Like, what even is Secure Boot? Is my PC gonna run away without it? Will hackers sneak in through my keyboard if it’s off??

I swear this is just EA’s latest anti-consumer move. What’s next?

DNA verification before you spawn in?

Retina scan before you reload?

“Please provide your motherboard’s mother’s maiden name to join the server”?

Anyway, thanks EA. Guess I’ll just go play Minesweeper where I don’t have to risk accidentally summoning Skynet in my BIOS.

what a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you write, you know what secure boot existing for?
everything you write here is writed from someone a soo ignorant and brainless and tell a huge mount a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ i never see before here, anyway you dont want do that, go play on console, because all next games use SECURE BOOT FOR ANTICHEAT, all new games starting do that, and before u tell a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ again, go READ WHAT SECURE BOOT IS MADE FOR IDIOT!!!

Ted Farro, the meme villain

Publicado originalmente por HouseOfTheRat:
Faro is not some dumbass with money, he understands technology as much as Sobek [...]

Zero Dawn was Liz's project, but it wouldn't have been possible at all without Faro [...] choice in the world, she would have taken it.

And Faro, faced with the consequences of his actions, tiptoes between remorse (which could be because he failed big at something, not necessarily because he destroyed the world) and the desire to protect his image. [...]

That's why I said that in the first game Faro is a flawed human, his story and character are very plausible, and that is what makes him a good villain who you can understand and hate.

Ya see, that'd be fine and dandy, if his character was more developed, rather than extremely nuanced. This is obviously personal opinion -- but I feel like, if you're going to have a villain do something that seems IMMENSELY STUPID, you should really convince the audience beforehand that, hey, it makes sense that he'd do that, and heavily imply how he managed to get away from it, rather than just spring it up on the player at the last possible moment.
I feel like, if the game had 90% less MP3s and PDFs, then it'd make real sense as to why the chain of events are obfuscated. But they're not. There's A LOT of information that survived all that time in the form of memos (somehow? Why even save all of those memos anyway? Who did?) --- so why not also narratively explore Faro's corruption of Zero Dawn?

You also mention he's a capable mind himself, but from the story, I only got that he was a failed robotics firm, where he just at the helm of it as a business man, and nothing else. Might've missed something, but I recall his company skyrocketed only because of Liz and nothing else.
Either way, I feel like if it was important to establish him as a capable mind (and a stupid generic white CEO corpo guy), then they should've....Established that.
Aiight, I went around in circles. You get the idea.

"there's something reeeaaallly close nearby! Maybe go off-course for a second there and go for it!".

Lol if you hate handholding instructions, better wait until FW drops to $5... I don't remember how bad this was in ZD, but in FW Aloy literally won't shut up giving you an extremely detailed walkthrough of everything you try to do except fighting:

"I need to find the thing... maybe it is in that room over there."
"The room has a door... maybe if I open the door I can get inside the room."
"Made it! I am inside the room... maybe I should look for the thing I need to find"

The fighting more than makes up for it, but well, now you know.

I didn't literally mean Aloy going: "OH HEY THERE'S SOMETHING OVER THERE!"
It's more of the Ubisoft-esque mentality, of just planting a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of random chores on the map, to distract you from anything else. So it's like the dev is whispering in your ear: "heeyy, main quest? Nah forget about it, go collect some mugs, or kill some bandits!"

And in ZD, Aloy does tend to narrate quite a bit, but it's nothing like, say, God of War, where the BOY won't shut up. It's rather subtle.
