Early feedback (Just Finished Chapter 2)

Technical Challenges:

In chapter one, I tried to raise her brother up on a platform to burn dry shrubs to lower a bridge, but I tried it BEFORE he said he could do it, and he wouldn't step off the platform. I had to restart the area (luckily that was the last autosave) and was able to progress.

I saw a short vid of being able to stop and block mid attack unless I remember incorrectly. This is not working for me, but I'm not finding it a huge issue.

Camera: For the most part the camera is fine, but if backed to a wall while locked onto an enemy it's game over. You cannot see a thing, and if you're surrounded or semi-surrounded, rolling in your desired direction doesn't always work and you get punished for it. Also, I've found that if I want to manipulate any objects lying around to aid myself in a fight, I cannot be locked on to an enemy. Not sure if this is by design or not, but thought I'd mention.

Visual noise: I notice this primarily during cutscenes and it's distracting. Also, there was a sort of fuzz around Ryn when running. Oddly enough, turning on frame generation fixed this for me.

And speaking of frame generation, I understand this is UE5 but my 4080 Super/Ryzen 7800X3D cannot achieve 60fps with all settings maxed until I drop to DLSS Balanced and then drop Global Illumination to High. Not sure if it's an optimization thing or something else but thought I'd note it.

Where it shines:

I'm not going to list every aspect this game shines because IMO they are many and this would end up a novella.

The game is beautiful, the characters and clothing are well detailed and the clothing animation has been handled with care. Environment puzzles are fun and varied.

One problem games have suffered from since forever that is finally improving, is HAIR. You've done a beautiful, BEAUTIFUL job with Ryn's hair. She's a beautiful actress and you've recreated her as an athletic warrior very well. Cudos again on the hair alone in addition to other visual niceties.

I really got the sense of just how under-powered Ryn is compared to the enemy vestige once that first encounter happened. Well done!

Banter is good and just frequent enough without being too much IMO.

You started Ryn off in a good place to experience her inevitable character arc. I'm starting to see it already in chapter 2. Her prickliness is understandable, but the ice is gradually melting.

I've been playing games long enough to know combat would evolve, and as it's started happening, it's becoming more satisfying with each upgrade. I'm enjoying her melee and magical abilities more and more.

Being able to manipulate structures and random objects helps to vary the combat and give yourself help when you need it, as well as your companion's aid, which is great.

I'll stop here. So far going into chapter 3, I'm having a great time. Yes, there are issues to fix and you've been active at updating us on those fixes I'm hoping HDR is available before I finish the game.

I hope this feedback helps. You've all done a fine job, here, and although the game still has rough edges to iron out, you have something here that I can't wait to get back to and hope there is a future for.
