It's certainly not a masterpiece. It's a great game, with a lot of issues particularly related around balance and pacing. The last quarter of the game is extra punishing due to a lack of ammo and bullet sponge enemies that can hit you with laser accuracy and high damage.

Some of this is mitigated by changing single player settings, but you need mods if you ever want to have enough ammo to engage in the game's terrible gunplay. It's one of those systems where your accuracy stat drastically modifies where your shot lands, instead of shooting where your crosshair is. This leads to constantly fighting against a moving dot on the screen to line it up on your target to get a hit.

Weapon durability also works against the player trying to play melee to save on ammunition. This is a game that constantly conflicts with itself like two parents arguing, and you're the child just trying to enjoy life but you're stuck between them.

Another example of this is "quest items" that are treated like normal items, and are a constant source of annoyance. For example many times you need to have a key or other item to process on the map. This means you have to gather the materials to make them, which means often you need to run back to base to make the item and then make your way back to use it.

Instead, these items should always be found items that go in their own "quest inventory" slots and don't take up space in your bag. This way you aren't stuck carrying around ♥♥♥♥ anticipating that you might have to use it to b unlock a crate, tram, turn on a reactor, etc. It's just bad game design as it is now.

But still despite all its flaws, it's a great game and it's addictive. It's just got a tedious and sucky last quarter of the game. It's worth the money for everything else though

Some passive income from busniesses would be nice, this has always botherd me too.
