'Try again' does not always allow me to retry the same level.
Arcade Mode and Rookie difficulty if it matters.

It works on level 1.
It works on level 2.
It does not work on level 3. Retry sends me back to level 1.
It works on level 4.
(That's as far as I've come so far)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding how the mechanics are in this game. 'Try again' on level 4 now sent me back to level 1. How is this supposed to work?

A lot of good advice here. If you are looking for an easy win comp - Get 3-4 tank units with some minor scaling, 2 mages and 3-4 princesses. Don't combine mages or princesses until you've got enough on the board.
