is new dlc "mandatory" for dedicated AoW4 players?

- Tome of Prophecy is a new meta Tome due to Precognition feature, which allows units to completely ignore damage if it doesn't have True Strike modifier from an attack. It only stacks once, but when combined with Grace stacks, it utterly nullifies most enemy army AoE alpha strikes and army wide spell nukes. Especially if you're playing with units and heroes that automatically go into Defensive Mode or play a Defensive Mode strategy (Prescient Circlets gives melee Precognition when they enter it).

Perfect for the new Architect Culture where their front line Earthbreaker enters the mode on basic attacks and Guardian Spear and Shield units having First Strike and a retaliation dmg feature whenever attacked, making them perfect for just entering defence mode vs enemies to DPs rather than actually attack.

- Holy good guy undead is more of a thing than ever if you're into that with new undead tomes.

- Elysian form is really nice human spinoff for more mystical interesting Human look.

- Ancients form allows the creation of Warhammer Tomb Kings race looking the part before Undead Transformation, or the fantasy verison of Age of Wonders: Planetfall's reavers nuff said lol.

- Some interesting minor transformations in new Tomes like an Order version of Fey Guile that removes 1 neg effect per turn if one if removed, replaces it with its counter positive effect (Pure Soul).

- The DLC is yet another large Story Realm DLC and like Eldritch Realms, the Archon story realms are getting really dep into old AoW lore and events that were previously put on hiatus due to the closing of the World Gate on Athla. Which made AoW3 abit divorced from the events and things setup in AoW2.

Everyones coming back and the ♥♥♥♥ is hitting the fan now. :P

- Blessed Realms are a new feature/map environmental type.

- Chariots as a form trait. :p

- Special prophecy Societal Traits that act like a main quest or scenario for your faction, with a reward at the end based off actions/affinity and prophecy choice. Leaders with these traits can't be played in Story Realms though since that's basically what they add to custom maps and it would conflict.


- Architect is truly a pick your own cultural bonuses culture, building off what Primal Culture started in Primal fury DLC as a thing.

Architects start with 0 cultural bonuses save for 2 in the Affinity they pick at start.

They have to build monuments to gain those instead based off their main/highest affinity. The more and higher tier Monuments you build the more powerful all your units become until they become not so theoretically godly in power (around 6-10+ Affinity Incarnate).

Like I hinted at above their units have a lot of special mechanics that scale in power based off Affinity Incarnate, and the design of them promotes using at least one of each per stack, save for T1 Cultivator post early game for massive synergy in your armies. They all add something like an MMO/PnP adventuring group lol.

The style of play and the units also highly promote defensive shield wall/phalanx formations with archers peppering frontline and enemy backlines with their Giant/Large unit slaying bows, and Earthbreakers finishing stuff off. Waves of enemies will crash onto your Guardian lines and kill themselves vs. Incarnate features lol, with Earthbreakers mixed in to hit 1-3 enemies at once on your turn and enter Defensive Mode when they're done.

Lastly in addition to Monuments having near unlimited scaling potention only soft locked by increasing costs per Monument, Architects when you build final tier of Monuments gain access to building "Monument Effigies." These will allow unlimited scaling of your City resources by building them repeatably (like extra provinces), also rising in costs pet time built. Each time adds +20 food, +10 gold and mana. So tall play can be a thing especially in tight/small maps and areas (I think playing Architect on a story map like Tharru'Gath would be OP that way). Though you really want to play wide and/or Vassal. :D

Обидно что они с этим ничего делать не хотят, только всё ухудшают обновляя поведение ботам так что бы их ещё сложнее было отличать опытным игрокам, которые раньше их могли игнорировать, но при этом оставляют их всё такими же раздражающе шумными, телепортирующимися к игрокам, надоедливыми, и достаточно беспомощными что бы новички могли их перестреливать. Хотя они могли бы к примеру сделать выбор предпочитаемых регионов с примерным пингом как в других онлайн играх и отображающимся онлайном, или дать игрокам на выбор поиск игры без ботов с живой очередью, но они этого всего почему то не хотят, видимо по той же причине что и дать выбор карт, из-за того что им видите ли это не выгодно держать сервера пустыми, зато почему то выгодно проводить по 5-10 никому ненужных турниров в год с нехилыми призовыми и нехилым шоу для каких то в среднем 5-10к. зрителей))) Уморительные ребята эти корейцы.
