I've mentioned in several other threads already, but my favorite aspect of CTR's items is that nothing is outright guaranteed; skill always plays a role, with movement being just as important as strategy. Even the homing rockets didn't guarantee a hit, and could be outsmarted, outmaneuvered, or even outrun. Placement items could be placed in strategic locations, and everything could be upgraded via collecting enough wumpa fruit to stronger versions. Temporary shield loses its timer, TNT crates upgrade to Nitro's that explode on contact, beakers go from a simple wipe out to a wipeout and temporary speed debuff, etc.

I don't think the auto-lock on weapons entire existence is problematic, but I do think that there should be more weapons similar to CTR's method of doing things and anything with an auto-lock on should be made more rare the better your current placement in the race is. For example, the shotgun and minigun are both very powerful and would make more sense to be a means of catching up than as a front lines placement defense. Instead, first place should be getting more placement defense items similar to CTR's TNT crates and beakers, as well as the bowling bomb functionality that allows it to be shot backwards for a chance to maybe hit someone behind you. The single use teleport is good for growing a lead as well, and can also be good for an instant speed bonus if you fall into 2nd place or lower to help catch back up.

An idea that could potentially be interesting and might be worth investigation could be the idea of tying weapon power to remaining health. If you have lots of health, your weapons are less effective. If you're at low health you are at high risk of running out of health and losing all your speed, but compensate with powered up weapons. This could be a means of adding a bit of useful depth to the health system and add in an element of risk vs reward. This could apply to certain items and weapons differently, such as extending the time duration on the shield if you are at low health, or applying invincibility to the healing item only if used while at low health.

I know there is ALOT wrong with this game and it genuinely does feel like an early access game, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't having a ton of fun playing this game. The movement is great especially for soloing, and the guns and zed designs are awesome. Some of the characters are abit obnoxious but that is really such a non-issue.
And with the addition of Hans Volter and Patriarch being added (As hinted in the official OST released today) and the deep dive into the upcoming updates on the 30th, i'm excited to see what will become of this game.

Going back to KF2 however... I really enjoyed it when it first came out but today it feels almost unrecognizeable. The UI is a bit of a mess, the game is filled to the brim with TripWire's awful attempt at competing with Valve's loot boxes, skins and microtransactions, it feels about as exciting as PAYDAY 2's lootboxes.... It simply just doesn't belong in the game.
And while it's great that there is such a huge variety of guns, most of the time I find myself picking a perk and then having to figure out which weapon is actually useful a lot of them just feels terrible to use. Its like replaying the first killing floor and you pick up some of the weapon and you just go "Why is this even here? This genuinely sucks to use"

KF2 is probably still the "best" overall experience when it comes to Killing Floor, but I must say I'm really loving KF3 so far and I think this is nothing but the tip of the iceberg of the content we are going to see being added to this game, and I'm all here for it. Let them cook.
