I really need an option to buy certain quest items, I won't be slaughtering my critters. Also, a hint that main objectives can run out of time would be nice.

Both Tyler and Leo (The Community Manager) have already made a statement on it... It is still planned to release by the end of July or at the very least August 1st. Any further delays would be posted in the Official Discord Server. Here is what was said verbatim.

The same thing happened to me and I had to do the playover, the game gets exactly to the same point and Niesha outs you to everyone but they all take responsibility for their bad behavior and give you another chance, and the game progresses. Here is what I did differently the second go around-- 1. I delivered everything on time, if they were not around, i picked the option to leave it for them and it triggered the game play where they would actually open the door for you etc. 2. I tried to deny the extra foraging but the game actually wont let you deny it and your character forages anyway. I am unsure if it matters what extra ingredient you put in each . 3. I chose the nicer option for every single character in the dialogue, I am unsure if that actually matters but you get the "friendship," achievements for each and when Niesha tries to run you out of town, they all forgive you if you actually delivered everything on time. although, I am kinda upset with how you have to still be friends with her after she blames everything on you, you have several more days until the festival to work and there is no option to make less friendly choices. (I just feel like in real life after someone says all those nasty things about you in front of the whole town, you'd at least not want to hang out with her anymore, but oh well) hope this helps! Oh and do not be fooled by the "eternal play," option that you get when you do finally beat the game.. The only thing you have the option to do is keep up with your garden, buy from the store, give ramsey a treat, and play with your tarot cards. You do not get an option to walk around the village or talk to any of the characters and there are no more orders to fulfill.

Optimise the game! You quite serious? It's in essence a beta, it's not even a stable release candidate. I'm shocked how well it all works to be honest, given previous experiences with EA games, most of them have been half baked, and cancelled (KSP2, Industrial Annihilation).
