Do any of you people have a bone of optimism in your blood? But yeah I suppose I am on steam forums.

They are probably just sick of being asked the exact same ♥♥♥♥ questions over and over again like "why things unkillable". "Why rail gun not for solo". Ungabunga. Because they are super units. A rat like a scav will never possess the weaponry to kill a unit of immense power, nor do they want you to go in and just pretend this is a dark souls game where you can kill anything by baiting and spamming a million grenades at it. Thank ♥♥♥♥ you cannot do that. I swear half of you want like a grimdark remnant 2 or something, but this ain't it lads.

Yeah its very rough around the edges, but the core gameplay loop is solid and I swear its a massive skill issue most of the time from every single person who posts in steam. You can spitball all you want about financial issues and stuff but you have zero clue about what is actually going on. An incredibly small team who works from home is very different to your average asian gatcha company like hoyo or AAA dev like DICE. We are lucky they have even come this far. Once again reminds me of GTFO and their whining ♥♥♥♥ community, but 10 chambers stuck to their guns and well here we are.

If you don't like the game, or the devs etc, should of refunded?

Having invincible units as a way to make your game difficult is one of the most boring, lazy, and unfun design choices possible. Your enemies should be tough but fair. Smart, cunning, and punishing, but not without weakness. A rat-like scav possessing grenade launchers and railguns already pushes this concept. They are not making a real-world simulation. They are making a video game, a form of entertainment. Their decisions should be focused on making the game fun and engaging.

I am sick and tired of hearing that enemies are made invincible because of “lore reasons” or “real-life logic.” It’s a lazy and stupid excuse. Saying, “We don’t want to make parts fly off our enemies because we don’t want to look like Binary Domain or Lost Planet; it’s too arcade-like,” is nonsense. You can have a dark, immersive, realistic game and still include fun elements like dismemberment or mechanical disassembly of enemies. You don’t need to have bright glowing weak spots to indicate vulnerabilities.

Miles tries to play it off as if every decision they make is for lore reasons or “part of their vision,” but it just comes across as an excuse for being incapable or too lazy to implement such features.

We, as scavs, already have the ability to hire NPC followers and utilize robots that roam the wasteland collecting water for us. You’re telling me we’re incapable of organizing a way to get railgun parts onto the battlefield without using online features? That’s not immersion. It’s lazy game design, forcing people into co-op play in an artificial way.

Sure, Dark Souls can be cheesed, but it’s a fair game. It doesn’t try to cheat the system by throwing invincible Black Knights at you around every corner. It doesn’t cheese you by giving Havel a billion health. It gives certain enemies advantages over you, but it always provides you with tools to beat them.

If you’re smart enough to acquire all the tools and build your character in a way that lets you one-shot everyone, then good for you. The game gave you that option, and you utilized it. That’s far better than developers saying, “Hey, we don’t like you having fun in our game. Here’s an invincible enemy. Now go run away.”

It's sci fi, so of course the scavs can get autonomous robots like the rest of the factions. Of course they have access to grenade launchers. But you know who has way more advanced and durable tech? The 3 other factions. These things may be insane cutting edge equipment now, but in the game's setting they are just same old same old. Therefore, saying that the scavs should be able to take down any unit given enough time or resources just doesn't make sense. These units are so much more powerful than anything the scavs have access to, so an ordinary grenade launcher that we have in the modern day wouldn't damage it significantly at all. This isn't even a realism thing. It is a part of the lore that the factions have extremely advanced technology (that is quite clearly NOT realistic, in fact it is very stylised). On top of this, the scavs are not a single unified faction. The water thieves are a good example of a group of scavs that are in opposition to the player. They don't seem like a coordinated rebel group, more a catch all for any civilian that lives in lost angels that is unaffiliated with either side of the war. Bc they are just some guys living in the sewers, they wouldn't be able to coordinate on such large projects to target advanced heavy units. It would be like a London gang trying to take out a aircraft carrier: i.e, it's not gonna happen.

In terms of gameplay, having unkillable enemies isn't lazy design provided that they still make the game more interesting. There is nothing inherently interesting about destroying a large unit. If the devs can make high-quality gameplay based around evading these units, then there is no need to implement the ability to kill them. The railgun isnt exactly an exhilarating piece weapon to use, you just place it and shoot a few times. Sure it lets you kill the larger units, but it's not particularly interesting or engaging. If there were weak spots to target then it would improve things slightly, but it's still a stationary weapon that you shoot a few times to get a kill in a couple seconds. Thinking about it, the novelty of that system comes completely from the fact that you can take something out that you usually can't, not the actual gameplay revolving around it. Killing a large mech is not inherently interesting. Medium mechs (as far as I know) at least USED to be killable. They are the same scale as toothy, so why not just go after them? Beyond the fact that one is killable usually and one is not, the combat around them feels pretty damn similar.

The devs want to de-emphasise combat, and what better way to do that than to make units that clearly cannot be taken down unkillable. If done correctly, this could force the player to think around these limitations to evade the larger units, which, to me sounds like both a much more engaging gameplay loop, AND also more fitting with the overall theming and setting of the game. The idea that the superpowers are so much stronger than the player that combat is to be avoided where possible is a core part of the game. Taken to its logical conclusion, this would mean that there will be some things in the game that the player will never be able to kill. This shouldn't matter, as, ideally, the game will be much more interesting when thinking about ways around these units, rather than trying to destroy them. The game does't have to be based around combat to be fun. The game could have had no combat at all (provided it was initially designed this way, very important to note there) and still potentially be engaging and fun. It's a tragic dystopia, and the devs should do everything they can so that players cannot have a power fantasy in this game; that is the opposite of its intended purpose. The player has to be weaker than most things, and for some of them they will be so much weaker that fighting will be impossible. If you want to be able to kill everything, even with a significant amount of work, this is not what the game is for.

My real issue is that some things are killable only in multiplayer. It does'n make a ton of sense that 3 random blokes would be any more able to kill toothy than one. I think that multiple players should make the difficult to destroy units easier to deal with, but some things shouldn't be killable at all, no matter what.
