Is there no shotgun spam? are the maps like in og battlefield games or are they more similar to recent cod map design? is calling this game a rape baby between cod and recent battlefield too far? that just seems to me like the most accurate description for this?

Yes English isn’t everyone’s language, but that has nothing to do with why subtitles are defaulted to on. Please don’t try to explain something without context. If you want subtitles you turn them on, they should NEVER be the default.

Considering there is no option to turn it off yet, then the game has to have it on anyway for accessibility reasons. So, yes, there is a reason it has to show subtitles. If you don't like it, get a refund and tell them why, so they can fix it for you.

The game studio needs to fix the issue by giving you the option to turn it off. That is the core of the issue.

As for the default, as explained already explained before, your assumption here is that many games let you choose the option before the audio starts. Unfortunately they do not, meaning that some of the older games starts playing a movie or cut scene with no subtitles and a lot of people don't know what's happening before they get to the menu to turn it on.

They can't restart the original movie anymore unless they do a reinstall without losing that config file to have subtitles enabled and sadly, that doesn't always work. That's why defaulting to subtitles to on "if there is a cut scene or movie" prior to the game menu or show the captions menu first before anything start is more important.
