Hi, guys! If you write the exact error name, maybe someone can help you. But yes, the game doesn’t work well on some machines and in some locations.

- EAC acting weird,
- GPU drivers,
- or some conflict with overlays / antivirus.

When you launch, does it freeze right after the logo shows up, or at a different stage?

It freezes on the launcher screen, where in the bottom right corner there is the "initialization" ticker which displays 1, 2, then 3 periods, and starts again. After the second cycle, the launcher freezes, at which point my entire computer is also frozen requiring a hard reset of the machine. Since this sort of problem would not be captured by automated error logging/reporting, I suspect AGS has no real idea of the problem. It may only be affecting a proportion of users with specific environments/settings.

When the game is able to load, right at the moment it would normally freeze the machine instead the launcher reports 'loading game.'

What I've found through a lot of research and testing is that this problem appears related to the Easy Anti-Cheat software. Hence, my recommended fixes are as follows:

1. Reboot the machine.
2. At a stable desktop, disable all anti-virus and firewall software.
3. (optional) set Steam to run as administrator. (I'm not certain this helps).
4. Uninstall NW.
5. Reboot. Again, disable av/firewall software.
6. Launch Steam.
7. Re-install NW.
8. Insure that you have plenty of free space both on the system drive and the drive running the game. I recommend at least 120GB on the system drive free, and 200gb free on the drive running the game. If system and game run on the same drive, make it 250gb free.
9. Launch NW. It should launch.
10. The problem now arises that if you quit the game and try to launch again it may freeze the machine. So I recommend after each session you reboot the PC and at a stable desktop disable AV/firewall software.
11. After following all the above steps, you may be in a state where you have rebooted, disabled the AV/firewall software, and the game still freezes the machine. In this case, what I recommend is going into the \Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\New World directory, opening up the \EasyAntiCheat directory and deleting all 5 files in that directory. Do not delete the subdirectory.
12. In :\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\New World there may be a file called "steam_appid.txt" Delete that file as well.
13. Launch Steam and re-verify the files. It should report "5 files" for downloading. Note that it does not download a replacement for the "steam_appid" file, because that is generated by subsequent launches (probably by the EasyAnti-Cheat program.
14. After this verification, and insuring that your AV/firewall is still disabled, attempt to launch the game normally. Do not use the -DX12 switch if you know what that is. Game *should* - but doesn't always - launch.

Is there a way to save the setup of a map, so you can reuse the map with that setup it in multiple sessions? Or do you have to re-setup a map each time you use it for a session?

It's a scam, that's the definition of a scam, they deliberately lied about the product and sold it has a finished product while missing core features that literally make the game unplayable.
That is literally a scam!

I cant call it scam. It works. It does have features you need to play it. Yes, it lacks a lot QoL features developers didn't realize was necessary.
