Question about "In response to the tutorial"

I failed to complete the tutorial for the second time since I purchased this game, because I'm not new to the genre, and I find it an unacceptable waste of my time. So since I've owned this game many moons now, and have been seriously unimpressed given what little I experience in the tutorial, I came here to look for info. A pinned message about "in response to the tutorial" was a major disappointment, because all it says is "We listened."

Is the rest of this game going to force me to sit on guard rails the way the tutorial did?
Is the rest of this game going to involve reading weak script (when I'm looking for squad leader or West Front)?
What response was given by the designer "in response to the tutorial"?

Hey, the game got great reviews, I'm not knocking anything but the tutorial, which is all I've seen. I even heard about an expansion, so good on the design. But I play Advanced Squad Leader and World in Flames, which put the complexity of this computer game to the level of primary school. I'm open to enjoying it like everyone else seems to; but how do I skip the tutorial?

Did I mention I found the tutorial an infuriating waste of my time and energy? That I've failed twice, you may commence mocking and derision.

Our experience with extensive playtesting was that without the tutorial we had very high dropoff rates. So the tutorial became a necessariy evil (though some folks quite like tutorials actually). That being said I'm sure they could be tightened and improved. But we are a small team and can only accomplish so much.
Each tutoral lightens the guardrails. By the 4th scenario you are in a proper battle with considerable latitude and the 5th is simply to teach armor.

If you want to assess if going through tutorials is worth it then I would suggest perhaps watch a let's play of some later scenario on YouTube? Historical Gamer did quite a few. Yes there would be some spoilers but then after 30 minutes maybe you would see if you liked what you saw or not.

If it encourages you try moving 'hours played" to about 3 hours on Steam reviews. Our positive ratings approach 90% suggesting that the post tutorial experience is well received :-)

Finally since you are a boardgamer I would say heavy influencers for me as designer were:
- Fields of Fire
- Conflict of Heroes
- Band of Brothers (boardgame)
- Squad Leader ( of course!)
- Ambush
(p.s. never got to play World in Flames but was a big Axis Empires fan till it sucked too much time LOL).

My goal was to draw on such designs while reaching a broader audience.

If you after the various above you feel this is not a fair treatment of you as a game I would be happy to personaly reimburse you. Send me an email via our website and I will respond.
