Personally i never went to the point of insulting anyone.
I voiced concern about their handling of the last patch, especially about them changing the way gems function and that they originally implied the exchange of duplicates for gems would be immediate.
Instead they changed the wording in the patchnotes and are sneakily changing the rarity of previously earned Cosmetics to be of lower tier and therefore offer less gems when the duplicates eventually get turned into gems.
In previous chats with members of the company i was ensured that they would never change the rarity of cosmetics, even if they had to change the rarity of items for balance reasons.

I didnt phrase it as direct, i wanted to be nice.

The moderation team of their discord was rude. Dismissive.
Yet i stayed respecful.
I got dogpiled and ridiculed for standing on principle of not wanted to be lied to or stolen from.
Then i left on my own volition.

I don't like that they seem to act as shady as possible, like they try to breach a highscore.

No communication with weird decisions -> I can't tell if they want to screw me over or not.

Therefore I can no longer recommend that someone gives them their money, if they value to be respected.
As a customer you have no idea what you are paying for.
Yes you want to keep the game running, so they need money.
Yes gems enable you to get cosmetics.
Though it got changed over and over seemingly on a whim what gems are used for, the ways to obtain them, lootboxes have had wrong dorp chances advertised in the game until its noticed by a player (happened multiple times)

The game is good.
What you experience if you have to get into contact with the company is not worth it. There are other good games out there.

To go with the image of the bakery: Imagine the baker tells you that you get vouchers that are good for a Cake each, because you spend a lot of time in that bakery. They will only be exchanged in the future, when he has build the system to make cake that can be handed out.
But then the baker decides that he will only hand out muffins. The system to hand out cake is not yet done. Without giving out a headsup. You just notice that magically the text on your voucher changed to free muffin from what said free cake.

Thats shady business and you would indeed not recommend the witchcraft baker that changes the vouchers in your pocket without giving you notice.

Everything else they pulled off i could somehow understand and even defended publicly.
This is one step too far for me personally.

This is what I'm talking about, look at the wording you are using. Everything is interpreted through a malicious lens. Nothing can be a mistake, nothing can be careless. Everything needs to be sneaky, lie, theft, shady, fraud, a conspiracy to secretly take your gems away.

We are talking about an inexperienced dev team working on their first game. It doesn't matter how much they assure you they will never go into a certain direction, they have no experience to assure anyone of anything. They don't know what they don't know, and they are discovering key things as they go. They will probably avoid these mistakes on the next iteration.

No one is trying to screw you, no one is out to get you. They found an issue, they addressed the issue in a way that was not ideal, some got impacted positively, some negatively, and they were not willing to make an entire special system to accommodate you specifically.

And yes, an inexperienced bakery manager could indeed end up thinking of a voucher system that needs to be reformulated on the fly due to the original plan having some major holes in it.

There is a big difference between making a scam and intentionally misleading people to buy something, and then changing things with the intention of gaining money through a bait and switch, compared to what is most likely the case: They made a mistake, they were counting something that did not manifest, and they had to do a hard pivot in order to not have to close down the game.

It is obvious that this was not their original plan. It would be far better for them to start with a successful monetization model out of the gate, instead of having to do hard pivots.
