Lords of the Fallen 2 Exclusive to Epic

Imagine this concept, that steam is required to give developers money, for devs to make a game, i mean, is it really a stores job to make up for the loss a developer accrues? I mean in all seriousness, is it a storefronts job, to front a crap-ton of cash, so a dev can make a game, any game, could be good could be bad. Steam isn't something it isn't, steam is a storefront, and a game client, people wanna sell their games, that what steam is for. people want money, that's what a publisher is for, that's what a loan is for, that's what kickstarter is for.

I mean lets look at the epic game store, it is still missing a massive catalog of features steam offers, features that epic users have been begging epic to add, implement, and work on, and instead of spending a few million dollars to create a storefront that is at least ON PAR with steam, they would rather blow hundreds of millions of dollars a year on exclusivity deals (plus nearly 1 billion fighting apple after he cheated their storefront system to cut apple out of his in game purchases) done simply because its how they get the majority of users, people who cant get the game they want on any other pc storefront, so they have to use the equivalent of lincoln logs to play their game of choice instead of the Lego set that steam has become.

Exclusivity is anti-consumer as all hell. Not only that, we are literally in the time period where all the companies that FOR YEARS were battling for exclusivity have started to STOP doing it cause they finally realized it was bad for the bottom line. playstation and xbox are releasing their stuff on each others platforms now, and on pc, there's a reason for it, its MORE money.

Sitting here and thinking that tim sweeny is giving these devs money cause hes such a sweet guy who just wants to help them is the most naive thing i have ever seen someone say, he does it cause he wants a bigger piece of the pc gaming pie, he does it to get more people using his crappy underdeveloped storefront, he does it to try and hurt steams bottom line to crush them out of the market in which he hopes to overtake.

Epic is a business just like steam. Steam handles its business like a retailer that knows what it is. Epic handles its business like a cell phone provider, not by giving people the best service, not by giving them the best experience, but by doing anything and everything they can to Poach customers away from their preferred gaming environment even at the cost of moving to a crappier one.

Tim Sweeney and epic arent heroes, they arent even anti-heroes. He pretends to be the good guy, so when he does bad things he can say "but i did it for the good of gamers"

I will give you this though, you are right, people have a right to choose to support a game, they have every right to do so, so if people wanna buy it on epic, sure thats a great thing for people who use epic. but uh, its not hard to see what that does to a company, look at gearbox, they played that epic exclusivity game, and they sure as hell arent doing it again, cause it hurt their bottom line. just like it does to most of the devs who bought the snakeoil from epic, then when they released on steam people waited for big sales to buy.

Devs are free choose their store front, Devs are free to learn from mistakes,
Consumers are free to choose their client. Consumers are free to vote with their wallet.

Timmypoo himself admitted that out of the large amount of games they paid heavily to run as exclusives, almost NONE of them worked out well for Epic.

His exact words were: A few of them worked extremely well. A lot of them were not good investments.

Boy if THAT aint the the most conforting thing I want to hear my storefront of choice say, that they blew through all this money and didnt make a profit on most of it. No Wonder the Epic storefront is a joke, lacking features, lacking QoL tools, just, lacking.

kind of like the intelligence of insinuating that a storefront should give devs tons of money to help them make games. Lacking.
