Playing meta is easier than playing non-meta. That's why you need a full understanding of the basic concepts if you want to use non-meta heroes. With a meta hero, you can get away with some wins without even fully understanding what's going on, which makes it perfect for learning because it's more forgiving. However, if you try to play with non-meta heroes (often because a meme YouTube channel posted a video of that hero dominating in Herald), the game becomes much harder and more unforgiving if things don't go your way. It can also mess up the lineup and the timing, since a Rubick mid, for example, would be picked last without any regard for what your teammates or enemies have chosen.

Players up to the Archon rank often pick non-meta heroes and then fail to play according to their role. Trying to execute their strategy, they start making mistakes and expect others to understand what they intend to do with their last-picked non-meta hero, even when there's no synergy among the team's heroes.

With a Rubick mid for example, you'd want to end the game quickly, ideally within 20 to 25 minutes. However, your teammates might have heroes that aren't strong in the early game. This makes the game more likely to be extended, which in turn makes it harder for your main core hero to perform as intended.

Anyone can play meta, but not everyone can play non-meta.

besides, picking heroes is only like 10% of what you need to do in the game, the problem comes while you are inside the match where anything can happen and where you will see if your pick works or not.

Wrong. Meta is not the future for gamers to thrive with brilliant strategies to countermeasure their opponents. If players continue with a particular strategy that could be seen by another, the game battles are not entertaining anymore, and have no angle to improve the players at the same time.

That's why Dota II must continue to have dynamic strategies for the gamers. Another game, I am proud to have experience in gaming with "Meta", and I disagreed with their Game Developers with very high criticism everywhere within their forum. If Dota II is designed with "Meta", I would do the same with very high criticism too! However, Dota II requires good critical thinking, which is necessary, or face difficulty or defeat.

You must understand the reason for the dynamic updates by the Dota team. It's not to create similar updates while time is moving, but it is making the environments or situations during the gameplay feel with "soft changes" instead of "high change" as new joiners (newbies) still trying to adapt, for example "pressing B for shop", "creep appear in 12:15", "high land at safe lane to evade", etc.

Thanks for reading and understanding.
