Secure boot made easier

ULTRA JOHN
Everyone needs to calm down about going into BIOS. Your PC isn't going to blow up. I get that it can be daunting to do something you haven't done before so I'll try and sum it up here for everyone.

*Pulls chair around and sits in it backwards*
So. You need to activate secure boot.

Step 1
Press Win + R > type "msinfo32.exe" > press enter.
This will show you your system information. You need to check for BIOS Mode and see if your system is in UEFI already. If it isn't don't worry we will get to that. The other thing to check for is Secure Boot State it may say "unsupported" or "off" next to it. By the end of this we will make sure that is turned on for you.

Step 2
Press Win + R again > type "diskmgmt.msc" > press enter.
This will open your disk management tool. What you want to find here is what drive you boot windows from. Usually the C:/ drive. If you have multiple drives installed then it could be a different drive for you, but just find the one that says boot.

Step 3
Right click your boot drive > click Properties > select the Volumes tab in the dialog box that pops up > if no drive info is displayed there should be a button that says Populate click that. Your drive info should pop up. Look for the Partition style row. It will say either MBR or GPT. Also take note of the Disk row it will more than likely say Disk 0 but if it it is another number it's fine.

NOTE: Alternatively, you can open CMD prompt and type: diskpart and press enter
Then type: list disk and press enter.
This will show you your current disks, but not which one is your boot drive. It will however inform you if any of your disks are in GPT mode already (denoted by an asterisks * in that row.) Close the CMD line window after you do this. Useful if you can't locate the populate button.

IF YOUR PARTITION STYLE IS GPT SKIP TO STEP 6.

Step 4
Type "CMD" into your windows search bar. Click run windows command line as administrator.
Type the following into your command prompt:
mbr2gpt /validate /disk:0 (or whatever # your disk was) /allowfullOS

Press enter.

This will run a validation to make sure your disk can be converted safely. You may want to backup your drive at this point but you SHOULD be fine if you're feeling a bit risky. Also if your drive is encrypted make sure to decrypt it before going any further.

Step 5
Press the up arrow key. This will display the previous command you just typed. Modify the command so that /validate is now /convert like so:
mbr2gpt /convert /disk:0 (or whatever # your disk was) /allowfullOS

Press enter.

This will convert your drive from MBR to GPT partition type. The command line will spit out a few lines about the process it is running. If it says "Conversion completed successfully" you have converted the boot drive. Congrats!
The command line may say something about Failed to updated ReAgent don't worry about that. The important part is below that.

If it says: "Before the new system can boot properly you need to switch the firmware to boot to UEFI mode!" You aren't quite done yet. Otherwise, repeat steps 1 and 2 to confirm the changes.

Step 6
Restart your PC and press the BIOS key (usually Delete, F2 or F12).
Once in BIOS look for the button to toggle "Advanced Mode" in the GUI interface or navigate to the Advanced tab using arrow keys.

NOTE: If you have a GUI interface you can probably just click on everything.

NOTE: This seems to be an issue on mainly Gigabyte mobos. Switch Secure boot under BOOT options from custom back to standard and follow the prompt to restore factory default keys and accept it. It will restart your PC. Enter BIOS again to continue.

Step 7
Next use the arrow keys to navigate to Boot. Look for CSM navigate to it and hit enter. There will be a setting that says Launch CSM if this is Enabled change it to Disabled. Navigate back to the Boot menu.

Step 8
Lastly, navigate to Secure Boot. Press enter to go in the menu and change OS Type from whatever setting is there to Windows UEFI mode.
Press f10 to exit and SAVE CHANGES.

Your system will now finish restarting and if you repeat step 1 & 2 you can confirm that these settings are turned on and that the drive is now converted to GPT.

Congrats you have successfully enabled Secure Boot and can play the game! If this worked for you please bump the thread for visibility!
