From my understanding of this issue, the entire 'controversy' is entirely to do with the ore nodes in some damned mine being changed, which has spawned limitless drama of the kind only ever encountered on niche gaming forums.

My view is that life is short, fleeting, and often hard - and there are many dire events happening in the world right now. Of all the things I could potentially get worked up over, changing the ore in a videogame is right at the very bottom of the list.

And given that so many mods rely upon the unofficial patch to work, I won't be uninstalling it any time soon, irrespective of whether or not Arthmoor is considered arrogant and conceited or merely a visionary artist defending his masterpiece - whatever.......

This is not a game problem, this is a you problem for not paying attention and reading.

The game shows, states and explains that you can power it for a certain amount of time, if you do not login etc then it will vanish on official servers.

Common problem with modern society and not paying attention. If you do not want it to go, rent a private server and turn off the storm so IF you leave your pass for a month, you can login and power on without the fear of anything lost.

As you say, I must have overlooked or forgotten about those damn generators, I was just expressing my opinion. I guess I don't play many games with similar mechanics.

I find games depressing when they force you to log in every two weeks to do something in order to “stay” in the game. I think this is a problem with modern games, which will try to keep players by any means necessary. And it's not about clearing the server of old players. The game already lost a lot of players at the start due to a bunch of problems, and it's unlikely that they will ever return to that number.

Come on, really? Training and lifestyle? Men naturally have much higher levels of testosterone. The average man has more grip strength than professional female athletes.

And yet when you look at what little gameplay was shown you can see no similarities to DoW1. No split unit cap for infantery and vehicles, no unit customization, no 9 man squads, no unit preservation, cartoonish and goofy graphics on top of the trash primaris, nothing that made DoW1 what it was. They only claim to go back to DoW1 because DoW3 was such a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and don't want to be associated with it.
