1. The default flight controls are horrific and I had to spend 20 minutes fiddling with the settings before my starter ship didn't behave idiotically, though I did genuinely appreciate *how* configurable the controls were.

I find that most people have issues with the flight controls because the default input for the mouse X-axis is roll and not yaw. An input choice that did not age well into today. The moment people swap Roll for Yaw on the mouse, and assign roll to A and D (or Q and E), they tend to do a lot better.

2. The UI feels like it was designed by people who have never used a computer UI before. Every single time I had to do something in a control screen, the *way* to do it was stupid. Mouse control? No, except maybe sometimes. Tabs? Mostly no. Does Enter confirm things ? Not really. Spacebar? Why Spacebar? Arrows? Does Escape help? Sometimes? Sometimes not? Bueller?

The UI has gone through three refreshes since the original launch. The earlier menus were designed with the idea of not taking your hands off of control keys and input. IE: WSAD and QE for menu management with space being the easiest to reach without removing your hand from piloting the ship (note how you can still change the ship's vector while in a menu). Backspace is the quick key to go back one layer, counter to that original point though.

Later on, the design of the mission board, depot, and passenger terminal was updated/introduced, straying from that concept.

Recently, the Vanguard's Squadron menu is much more difficult to navigate without mouse input.

This was super informative in terms of giving the history of the UI and helps explain why it's so weird.

And yes, swapping Yaw for Roll is EXACTLY what I did to preserve my sanity (a few other smaller tweaks, I mapped thrusting to some extra buttons on my mouse, reducing the dead zone a fair amount, and reducing sensitivity a bit). But getting rid of the mouse roll was the big one.

How did you manage to ♥♥♥♥ up the server browser more than the hacker? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you guys are bad at your job.

Yes, You need to teleport to it in the station. If you just walk up to the terminals, it doesn't seem to recognise you have a Corvette docked to modify.

You can edit your ship anytime you want. Go ahead and finalize and then add to your ship when you get more parts. You don't have to trade, you can find stuff you want by digging up Salvageable Scrap on planets that have it (which should be way more common after this update).

I have only come across planets with salvageable scrap once in a great while. Then to find the scrap piles is another thing unless it's brought up in the view finder?

The update specifically said that Salvageable Scrap (and bones) are going to be more common, and I've warped to 3 systems since the update and all 3 systems had a Scrap planet on them.

Once you find such a planet, the Scrap shows up on the Analysis Visor as a Yellow icon that looks exactly like buried tech.

If you land on a planet and don't see any, chances are you could have found a "rare scrap" planet.

Probably best to find "cheap scrap" planets instead... the former will have very few scrap locations but they contain rare and expensive stuff. The latter will have lots of them everywhere, but give you cheap ones.

You get Corvette Parts for each casing piece you break, plus the center has a chance to give a part instead of the trade item.

if you dont have gems you can instead replace them for another card from any other game, and if you do this, unlike gems, there is no need to add multiple. (example 5:5+25gems vs 5:5+1extra random card)

i also give 50 gems for cards, regardless of game, so send me the ones you dont collect. i dont always have spare gems so i may add you as a friend to trade later. (from now on I have a 5 of the same card limit. but if I have 5 of something already, try coming back tomorrow as I trade a lot)

And fight pirates

Scene that have already been viewed can be skipped, an option to check progress or endings would have been nice, but there are other FMV from different countries that makes it hard for the player to complete it smoothly.
