You need to acquire a higher proficiency facing clown aka git gud.
He didn't become much stronger. His yellow buffs were compensated with pink nerf. Which depending on how you look is a change catered to the survivors. Many complained that being slowed by pinks felt bad, here we are 50% duration descrease. It became easier to use his kit but his double bottle combos became weaker. Not even talking about the nerf to the cigar box which went from an S-tier addon to complete garbage. As a clown player I would also like for BHVR to revert clown changes.

The problem is the skill ceiling is in the floor, he is way too easy to do well with so people are playing optimal clown by brain-dead throwing yellow bottles. Its not about the speed its the activation requirement. Now even baby clowns who don't know the character can do just as well. So its annoying to deal with every match. Also haste stacking perks are very easy to build up in a match, its not uncommon to see a bad clown player going spirit phase speed and tunneling people out of the game. Its annoying. pwyf is 15% bottles are 12% with addons batteries included is 5% unbound is another 5%, easily getting to 152% speed. THAT IS FASTER THEN SPRINT BURST. and its completely brain dead easy to stack that way.

The speed does not bother me, its how brain dead easy and strong it is.


I think this is the best comment about the problem of Clown after the rework. He has largely become unfun and boring to play due to the low activation-time of yellow bottles.
Good clowns (which I am 100% NOT!) would use both bottles during chase, but nowadays it feels a chase doesn't even start, because many survivors cannot even get to a loop quick enough. I played 2 matches with new clown, one against a group that I am sure could have beaten me with killers I am really good at playing... and it felt like a braindead cakewalk.

So please, revert the change, maybe tweak the activation time of yellow bottles based on the old value - but not too much - and make purple bottles more viable again.


On a side-note loosely related to this whole speed-thing:
with all the recent killer-buffs and more focus on haste-effect, the game feels like it's gradually getting faster and faster.
Which I personally find to be a shame. I always enjoyed that DBD is a slow-paced game where every action, every miss (especially as killer) has (sometimes severe) consequences. And I'm afraid we're going to scrape that aspect off more and more over time (if I want a faster paced Shooter, I can always play CS or OW, so maybe we can find ways to nerf speed on some cases instead of buffing other aspects of the game).
