This probably has a lot to do with Rebirth's underselling. I recently finished Remake and wanted to immediately get Rebirth but couldn't. What's crazy is that I'm playing Remake on an M1 processor MacBook air using crossover to translate a Windows OS. So a 2.8 lb, 6 year old laptop having to run Remake through two different Operating Systems at the same time only suffered from framerate issues but Rebirth is apparently so resource intensive that it endlessly artifacts when run even on more recent MacBooks.
