I've been checking in and out on the game for over 8 years ..
(ya i've been playing it that long)

Everything for me and quite a few other players stopped working when the MINES were not updated .. (back then we had 20-30 Ore Nodes that respawned yes the MINE was that big)

Fixing the MINE would have kept me around ..

Sadly there are those who came later when the MINES were disabled to what it is today ..

So they don't know they are being SHORT CHANGED (with 8 useless ore nodes that respawn more of the same useless nodes every single time) ..

You can't craft ammo that is GREATLY needed in this game ..

can't break down all the broken weapons into needed crafting material ..
(how much longer should a SURVIVOR like myself wait around pointing an empty gun ?)

~ya it's DONE
:bird:

So you played this game before it released? Mist survival released 14 of August 2018 - to my mathematical knowledge, that is not over 8 years!

You can litterally farm bandits for ammo and guns to brake down into materials!
You can litterally use the broken weapons as leverage at the trader for needed/good materials!
You can litterally farm the mine for ores, by driving away until derendering of the mine, then returning and redo the farming of ores!

So you stating, that one cant craft enough ammo for sustaining survival in this game, is simply false!
you can cry ALL you want this year is mostly OVER 7 years turns to 8 really quick !!
(TOMATOES TOMAATOES)
YEAH I'VE BEEN PLAYING THAT LONG GET OVER YOURSELF <<<

There NEVER was an AN announced update for the mine EVER to be fixed SO IT NEVER WAS ..

It's not really about representation, it's about identifying and bonding with the character you play throughout the whole game.

I recently read an article stating that 95% of Steam users are male, and, I pretty much think that that is representative for this kind of games.

No offense meant, it just strikes me as funny that game developers emphasize and push female protagonists so much, when their audience consists mainly of males. I think they surely have their demographics wrong, and put sociopolitical aspects into the games, instead of making them for the audience. Yeah, it's that typical woke thing which is so blatantly thrown in your face these days.

And, I also don't "freak out" about it. You can surely disagree with my point without putting things into my mouth.
You're the one who brought it up. It evidently means a lot to you if you rant about it unprompted, so I don't think my characterization is unfair.

I doubt 95% of steam users are male and would need to see data for that. While the balance favors men over women, it being that slanted would be virtually impossible. This also doesn't reflect my experience. I can't speak for Dishonored, but Dead By Daylight (basically Smash Bros with horror IPs; would not be a female oriented game) has maybe a 75-25 split when I interact with other players, check profiles or twitch streamers, etc. Other gaming spaces, like the Sims, are female-dominated (google says 60-40.) Steam can be male dominant and still have a significant female demographic.

But my point was that playing a character of the opposite gender should not prevent someone from enjoying them. I did identify with and bond with Corvo. He's one of my favorite characters ever. I like him more than I like Emily, because his story is better than hers.

And I think men were happy to play characters like Lara Croft or Jill Valentine, looking at the male demographics of those genres and their extreme commercial success. They just came out at a time before anyone was defensive about this.

As for messaging... honestly, 'politics' is just the current things people are fighting over, and that has stretched to include some really frustrating things that shouldn't be subject to the court of public opinion, such as religion, science, and gender. But you will be hard pressed to find a piece of media more complex than 'Pat the Bunny' that doesn't push some kind of message. In creating conflict, the author is communicating that something is bad, and what the hero fights for or how they fight or what they learn or what saves them is good. Whenever you consume media, you are being bombarded with the author's opinions and morals. It's not a modern thing. Read ancient Greek epics or the Old Testament, you'll find just as much.

The Dishonored series is intensely anti-capitalist and anti-authoritarian. It consistently portrays the wealthy as either greedy snobs or exploitative monsters, the police as corrupt and brutal, and absolute power as dishonest tyranny which the player must defy the law to fight against. These just aren't messages that the majority of the world's population disagrees with - nobody who isn't rich likes rich people, people don't trust authority in general and especially not government - so it doesn't stick out the same way an allegory about Christianity or sexuality would.

Now: I've seen hamfisted political injections. Just because a message exists does not mean it's told well, or serves a purpose within the story. And sometimes it's really obvious virtue signalling. I recall one pet site I frequented where every new character was suddenly some new orientation or disability. Pandering definitely exists.

But I don't think it's nearly as prevalent as you seem to, when you allege Dishonored is tainted by woke because women existing is political. And minorities... I've read claims Billie Lurk was 'turned' minority for the sake of inclusion, but she was a black lesbian in the first game. The lore was always there. She was a side character who got brought back in increasingly important roles... but like Emily becoming the protagonist of the second game, it made sense to put her in that role because of her connections with the other characters. Like, for Daud to be core to the plot, there was no other character they should have picked.

And when I look at games that are coming out today, I don't see wokeness devouring good narratives and spitting out screed. Part of this is going to be because people are not as sensitive to messages they agree with, sure. But I think your sensitivity is dialed up a lot harder than mine is if you think the existence of women and minorities is an agenda that's being forced on you, or an attack on the integrity of gaming. At that point, we've just gotta disagree on what a cast of characters should look like.
