The difference is that bans are enforced on these games, even if they don't detect you cheating right away, they'll actually enforce their ToS in all instances. FF/SE does this too, which is why you'll see ban waves on bots and gil traders all the time, if they really followed the logic you're suggesting they wouldn't even bother banning those, because "they can't stop it 100% so why bother trying right"

while you have right that many plugins would make probably poof ... would it mainly hit the friendly plugins really hard.
because cheaters find ALWAYS a way around those anti-cheats.
sure, they might be easier to catch cause one slipup and bam ... but stopping them is impossible.

elden ring is a good example, its full of them, they just go into offline mode, deactivate EAC temporarly and mod the char in a way that it is still "legit" but way too overpowered for normal gameplay. EAC cant do anything against it at all.

i mean, the offline thing isnt possible in FF14 but it was only an example case how an anti-cheat fails.

like, i have in helldivers 2 a mod installed which replaces the normal voices with neuro-sama... and gameguard gives a ♥♥♥♥ about it because its hardmodded.

Alright, I understand what you're saying, my frustration doesn't come from wanting them to be stopped 100%, I don't even WANT them to be stopped, I'm very neutral on visual mods, it just upsets me the way they go about this situation. They clearly can enforce their ToS or find other ways to stop people from developing these tools as they did with Mare, even if its temporary, my frustration comes from devs being unable to give us a clear go ahead. The only thing that changed from when people started using these addons to now in clarity of this subject is that now he made a official post confirming what a lot of people have always been saying in every forum regarding the use of this stuff, but theres still a "BUT" in there, which is, that its his PERSONAL OPINION on it, not SE's. "Yes me and some people from the team don't care about it, BUT." Just stop man, make it official for twelves sake. I know its not simple but its been more than 5 years since people have been using this stuff, and they are well aware of its existence. Its either against ToS and they enforce it like they do with every other infraction or its not. No more buts, just give us a ToS update on it already.

If you just block the marketplace, the only way for hackers to steal money is to gift games with that money, right? But to gift games, you have to add a friend and wait three days. So, what the hell is there to do before that happens? When you find out that you suddenly have a friend you didn't have, you just make it so hard to use the marketplace that you let them steal money with one click and leave it alone.
