There are way more games I take issue with more than this game, but it's kinda sad that gaming has gotten to the state where spending hours farming currency just to have the privilege of spending hours farming a different currency to unlock things is considered "normal" and not "someone with an addiction".

Whether other games do it worse or not, this is just a worse version of paying $10-$15 for DLC with meaningful content like what we used to do. Instead it's pay $10-$15 for the privilege of grinding and treating a game like a 2nd job, in hopes that you buy something else while you ignore your real life responsibilities. Pure psychological manipulation.

Yeah, probably not the best example. But I was thinking more along the lines of hard to find items like uniques. If there are not many of these items on the market and an RMT/scalper buys them up, they can essentially price-fix the market for this item.

While there are many issues with the current economy and will be others with these new systems, the basics still apply.

Rare uniques will sell for what the market will bear. If RMT/flippers buy them all up and steadily raise the price then that's just how a free market works. Yet and still, they will only sell for what the market will bear.

Even nonviolent, and non-FPS, video games make references to the Classic Doom video games, and that is because they knew that mods were the reason why the entire damn genre still exists to this day. Get the hell out of here before you are reported.
