So uhhh I loaded up a functional save (I 'd save on mission start after making the roads because i hadn't figured out you can demolish roads)
I tested this with most buildings but it seems and they work

but the moment i click to build a cabaret, it crashes
This is when the religious faction demands its church so idk if they're connected

Not really, i'm a noob and i had great fun playing the placement matches, maybe it depends on your region.

Because what you're playing now is a crippled game from the B&B DLC patch release.
In fact, they even went as far as denying to roll back to pre B&B patch.

It's so crippled I didn't noticed any prominent issues aside from a certain story quest bug for my 57 hours playtime. I purchased this game after every single DLC release, only grabbed Green and was happy with what I got I don't know what to say. In fact I enjoyed it so much I grabbed the Space Race later on.

Here's an alternate world for you, they never fix anything, I never touch any of the later DLC because I'm well aware it's broken trash.
Another one, they fix the broken DLC, I'm still not touching most the DLC in this game because frankly there's a lot and it's a little steep for me.

Maybe your exaggerating or maybe the game is genuinely crazy broken for you and that might even have to do with the actual DLC you own, that sucks and devs shouldn't be releasing broken DLC. Those DLC got the reviews they deserved.
Again though, not my issue. I'm not going to let someone typecast me as insane/miserable with the current state of the game. The game has been a bit buggy but perfectly functional otherwise for me.

This is the big thing. Looking on the about page Below and Beyond and Martian Express (the two worst DLC overall) are getting a rework as part of it and everything else from Surviving Mars is being included in the base price. Sad as it sounds this kind of implies that something about those two DLCs was so badly dome or managed that it'd have taken too many resources to fix as a free patch after leaving it untouched for so long by their assessment.

From what I take from threads they were developed not by the original devs. What you can take from the reviews is that they are buggy garbage, BB just doesn't integrate at all with the base game, and strikes me like the devs for it didn't know what Surviving Mars endgame is. The core design philosophy seemed off.
People keep reading the word rework as if its some slight patches, you don't use the word rework for something like that. We have to wait and see but I get the feeling those DLC are going to see massive changes not unlike a faction rework in Total Warhammer.
