I actually linked up with someone who told me roughly how to do it, modding Dawn of War is a real ♥♥♥♥♥ and I never managed to do it even after learning in theory. There's a lot of conversion and working around convoluted systems to tweak it. If you think you have the grit that I didn't, you could check some Dawn of War modding Discord servers. It's a whole ass rabbit hole.

I wonder if this will be easier now with the Definitive Edition since apparently they're making it more modder friendly

Wow blast from the past, surprised you found your way here, I reckon that it's still just as hard to do unfortunately. The real problem is the engine being a modified version of some weird zoo tycoon from the early 2000's. As I understand it the Definitive Edition's benefits to modding are a transition to 64-bit, meaning all the work under the hood is just as complicated as before it's just that they can play with more memory and CPU power. Good for the folks who've been there and done that with modeling and coding, still just as obtuse breaking through the barrier.
