Just to leave it here after coming back to SM2 as well after a long break. I've been playing a lot both of the games and I can say that DT is horribly optimised... it's absolutely embarrassing.

SM2 with highest settings runs for ~200 fps. DT with 80% settings to max (without extreme and RTX in both, with DLSS quality) runs at 80-140 FPS, constantly fluctuating.

9/10 it is the member of the team who is causing the loss who refuses to surrender.

Majority vote is far better imo.

I have a system with a 2060, where I do my testing, still have 22 cars visible, no stutter at race start. The only big stutter you should expect is in multiplayer when you get back to pits, because the game will reload anyone that joined the session after you, while you were on track. For single player, just limit to 2 categories and do not fill the grid, just use the default, no stutter as such as you described, stutters only start cropping up after about 60-70 minutes (at which point you should probably have had a chance to pit, where I recommend rebooting your game).

Regardless, OP, upgrade your system. It is now 3 generations away, it is time.

Makes sense, will give it all a try, thanks. Originally I lowered the car count yup, and that was before I understood which graphic settings kill performance and which don't.

I know it's time, but the thing won't give up :D (and arguably the most demanding game I play).
