They changed the mechanics so you can't kill certain bosses now. They also also changed the story elements compared to how it was in the game before patch 1.5.

I'll just use my reply from another thread, so...

I'm not sure how the story is "downgraded" or "censored", it's more like extended with more explicit story-telling instead of the usually vague, fragmented, and confusing story-telling of a souls-like. maybe you think the story is censored because you never got the vague and fragmented hints before the patch, and interpreted the story in your own ways, instead of what the producer really intended to tell. For sure these "story extensions" are done in very rushed and somewhat poor ways. but that doesn't really count as "censorship".

For example, even before the patch, there's certain boss who "turned to dust" after his defeat in battle, is shown to be alive and well and even left the main protagonist a letter of thanks later on. And the emperor is vaguely hinted to be alive and may have survived with a successful resurrection. All those things are in the game before the patch. So strictly speaking, you cannot be sure if some of those "historical figures" have really perished in battle even with those "turned to dust" animations. Now they are just shown to be alive explicitly, but that doesn't mean it's censorship, for all we know those "extended plots" may well be what the producer intended to tell right from the start.

Another example is that there's always the note that puts the Han soldiers as the good guys who, unlike the Manchu soldiers, did not escape from the plague but chose to stay behind and risk their lives trying to protect civilians from monsters. Now after the patch they become real allies in game fighting against monsters. Gameplay-wise it become dumbed down, but plot-wise it's always the same story just presented more explicitly.

For the dark and bleak setting, things like starving children getting eaten by monsters remain unchanged, so they are not censored.

I can understand people complaining about the dumbed-down gameplay and much easier difficulty. But for the plot I don't think there's much, if any, censorship going on, more like the producer getting fed up with haters so he just decide to no longer use vague and fragmented story-telling, but instead choose to tell the game's story in a more "extended" and blatant way, albeit in a very rushed patch.

I wonder what "story elements" you are so sure to have "changed"?
