Exsanguinate has Bloodthirst, which only triggers if the target is already bleeding. So your target might not have been bleeding, since the action itself works without issues. If they are bleeding, you then drain them and sate your hunger. Then (or regardless), if their HP is less than or equal to 25% of their Max HP, they are destroyed. Whether this action is outdated in power considering its cost is another discussion, and I'll certainly be looking into that part.

(Or do you mean you don't get text feedback that Hunger is sated along with the Drain after it triggers successfully?)

I am inclined to agree. In Heretic it was traumatic to get there on the hardest difficulty and almost felt softlocked just hiding in a corner. The Hexen was not as bad but the level offers very little in terms of puzzles. It's just a gauntlet and big open arenas is not a good Hexen experience and there's a reason you don't find that in the original levels.
The verticality is also a pain with the mage's frozen shard and autoaim because if bishops stack and you freeze one you just keep targeting the frozen statue.

They're both beautiful pieces of art at least and I really enjoyed traversing them and just looking at them. I liked the creative use of the blue magic platforms in the forest that looked like wisps.
