I definitely need to learn how to do early attacks properly. I have only ever done Men-At-Arms attacks when my town center has been placed right next to my opponent on Nomad, and it did seem effective then. My Jian Swordsmen push in early Castle does do damage, but I ended up taken so much economic damage by forgetting to build houses/keep villager production going lol.

In my last game against Romans I had a full army of Wu - Fire Archers, Swordsmen, and a full command group of Heavy Hei Guang Cavs with Sun Jian. I sent the cavalry around behind their army to kill the scorpions, but the centurions absolutely crushed my army - and the legionaries also crushed my infantry. Was an absolute slaughter.

This has all been good advice - thank you! I'll try learning early attacks, and only go for imperial maxed-out war when as Byzantines.
