This is the inconsistent thing to me. He seems to make the offers if your run is going well - especially if you have a lot of companions, and in my experience more often if he likes you.

This is part of what isn't clear: Is the offer supposed to be a 'bad' ending? I imagine so - but it's also being used as a challenge for when your runs are going really well, so where's the middle ground - where he just lets you out?

There are some cases where it's not made clear enough in the game, but in general it works like this:

1. Evelius starts with a random mood, range 8-10
2. His mood drops 1 every floor if you actually meet him
3. His chance of appearing on a floor is rather high, but there's also a possibility of him not being there, a companion being there instead, or him sleeping/not noticing you. If you use the balcony, this will also factor in since you will meet him less often
4. If you run past him while he wants you to listen (for example when he wants to hear a joke) it will lower his mood
5. Hitting him lowers his mood even more
6. Failing to do a task for him (bringing him an item etc) will lower his mood
7. Insulting him by choosing a bad idea in a dialogue will also lower his mood
8. Doing a task correctly and praising him in a dialogue will raise his mood
9. If his mood reaches 0 he will offer to turn you into a monster if you meet him
10. At the very end, he will let you walk if his mood is above a certain threshold, otherwise he will want to transform you
11. Escaping as a monster can have its advantages! You can kill your old monster self outside the tower in another run later to get some head hunting money and take some items from the monster. So it's not necessarily a bad ending.

this feels like way to punishing, getting to the exit is already a pain in the arse, just for this guy to say nah, you wont, this has to be the rougue like game where i feel im doing no progress regardles anything, because when I get down the tower I basically have a 100% guaranteed lose scenary, wasting my entire time, so bad.
