I don't understand, I apologize, will you please elaborate more? Why wouldn't a player be able to join a promoted / relegated team and how would a team getting promoted or relegated affect having an option to start in USA at the beginning of the most current season?

Using FM26 as an example: the game will start in Jan 2025 if you want to play in the US. If we could start in Jan 2026 instead, how does that affect the other teams and players negatively? Most euro and row leagues would be mid season at that point in real life, so no one would be promoted or relegated yet, only the winter transfer window would matter. Pro'd/Rel'd teams seemingly wouldn't matter until the end of the first season right, and even then we'd be waiting for FM27 for the new season update including summer transfers and pro'd / rel'd teams

Let's take Man Utd as an example. What if they didn't actually finish 15th in the game (like they did in real life) but they finished 18th instead. They would have been relegated, but because real life transfers would still need to happen (because the save started in the previous January) they would still have signed Cunha, Mbuembo, Sesko and Leon. For one, none of those players would want to play in the championship and two, Man Utd wouldn't have the finances to allow those transfers.

Manchester United are so close to being a championship team in real life sometimes. I don't think that this would be an issue because, by the time you start an 'up to date' US career, for example in Jan 2026, the Premier League still has roughly half a season left to play in game. Let's say Man United are in 18th place when you start the save for January 2026, and Man United are in 18th at that time. They'll have half the season to bounce back and make transfers immediately in January window, and if they do get relegated, then they probably would sell all their stars like real clubs do when they actually get relegated and how teams normally do when they are relegated. I apologize, I am not sure how this is an issue and I don't see how it could be one
