Anarchy, your whole point doesn’t really make sense.

You’re saying kernel-level + SecureBoot anti-cheat is pointless because it only catches “run of the mill” cheats and not the private custom ones. But that’s exactly the point — most cheaters are using those run of the mill cheats. Stopping the bulk of cheaters is already a huge win.

Even the advanced stuff you’re talking about isn’t magically unaffected. SecureBoot and kernel-level checks make cheat devs work way harder, which means fewer cheats, slower releases, and a smaller pool of people even capable of using them.

Your logic is basically: “if something doesn’t stop 100% of cheaters, it’s not worth doing at all.” By that reasoning we shouldn’t bother with firewalls, antivirus, locks on doors, or anything else in life because “someone can still get around it.” That’s not a real argument, that’s just throwing your hands up.

And Valorant literally proved you wrong already. Vanguard uses the exact same method. No, it isn’t perfect — but it’s still considered one of the best anti-cheats in gaming because it raises the barrier so high that the vast majority of cheaters can’t get in.

So no, this isn’t “pointless inconvenience.” It’s an effective way to keep the game cleaner for everyone else.

You just admitted it takes an hour-long documentary to explain how a niche, dedicated cheat developer managed to bypass Valorant’s system. That alone shows how effective it is. The average cheater isn’t going to spend months reverse-engineering Windows boot processes and coding at the kernel level. They’re going to download whatever’s on a forum, and those “run of the mill” cheats are exactly what SecureBoot + kernel-level anti-cheat shuts down.

And sure, you didn’t literally say “remove all anti-cheat,” but that’s exactly where your logic leads. If your stance is “don’t add anti-cheat measures because someone will eventually get around them,” then what’s the alternative? Just leave the door open and let people run wild? That’s not me arguing in bad faith, that’s me pointing out the natural conclusion of your own argument.

Nobody is claiming anti-cheat is infallible. The point is to make cheating harder, rarer, and riskier — and Valorant proved it works. That’s why your “it’ll get bypassed eventually” line is a non-argument. Everything gets bypassed eventually. That doesn’t mean you give up on security altogether.

Ain't reading all that.
Except for 1 part, it doesn't take months and it is relatively cost effective in regards to what you need for it.
Other anticheats already take care of the run of the mill stuff without needing to be kernel level, btw.
Ill dumb it down for you since your afraid of 2 paragraphs

Anarchy say, “man break Valorant anti-cheat.”
Me say, “so what? If only one smart man break, that mean system strong. Most cheater not smart, they cry.”

You say, “no need anti-cheat if not perfect.”
That dumb. Caveman still put rock in front of cave even if big bear push rock. Rock stop little thief. Rock good.

Anti-cheat same. Not perfect, but stop many. Better than nothing.

I'm still relatively early in the game, at the mission to blow up the sync thing.

I have been trying to farm order captains and snipers for their weapons but no dice. I have been probably through dozens of them by now. On the hand, I have collected a veritable number of ornate keys (5), sniper heads (10) and stacks of military MREs. All of which have supposedly lower drop rates than the weapons themselves according to the wiki.

I feel like I'm missing something here.

Do I need to progress further along the "main quest" to unlock weapon drops from them? Or do I need to level up my accuracy stat to the point that I unlock biometric armwraps so that the weapons will start dropping?

You need Bio-Metric gloves to use the revolver (Accuracy 7) and Bio-Mimic gloves (Accuracy 15) to be able to use the sniper rifle. If you have another player craft them for you, you will still require Accuracy 7 to be able to use either, even with the gloves. Upgrades for both at the enhancement bench remove the requirement to have the right gloves, but they will still require Accuracy 7 to use.

Snipers are a little bit uncommon but you'll see plenty of captains and there's at least one in a portal world that refreshes twice a week.

Don't waste your time farming them for weapons until you have the stats and equipment to actually use them. Not to mention, .357 ammo isn't especially common (dropped only by Captains and even then only a few shots) and .308 ammo (dropped by Snipers and a late game enemy) is *very* rare until late in the game. You won't have enough ammo to support frequent use of these weapons for a long time.
