First impression of observer mode

So, I finally completed all 15 levels! Of the observer mode, anyway. I want to make separate posts detailing my thoughts on the different modes when I get around to them, so this is just going to be my impression of the 15 levels in observer mode. I'm not sure how much changes between the different modes, but I just completed the game for the first time and I wanna talk about it with it still fresh in my mind!
I REALLY enjoyed this game! I think the atmosphere was rightfully scary, I think it was very difficult in some spots, and frustrating, but it clearly wants to be those things, so I enjoyed it enough (literally just a skill issue lmao) I think it was incredibly simple yet incredibly effective, I like how the game controls, how sensitive the controls are and how good the movement is, I think its simple design of characters and setting work really well, I like how simply yet poignant the text on screen can be. I think one of my most frustrating moments was one of my most favorite, I was stuck on the level that starts with the text "STOP RUNNING" and kept dying over and over, either due to my reanimated bodies or my own incompetence, and the text at the beginning of the level was practically taunting me, telling me to stop trying to beat the level, as if it was futile, which only pushed me more and more towards needing to beat it.
I like how linear the story itself is, so that it feels like you're being pulled in the direction the story is taking you, and no amount of death can stop it, it can only prolong it. I think that's made especially clear by the last level, where you become the very thing that has been destroying you and are forced to destroy yourself, and the ending, where you have no choice but to let your desire consume you, punctuated by the abrupt quitting of the game. At the climax where you, as a monster, are forced to destroy yourself, I was actively trying to look for another way out, another means of escape, even though the text plainly asked if I was willing to do what it takes to survive, and there was clearly no other option. It hurt. It made me sad. And it was really good.
I really hope this game gets the attention and praise it deserves, it's not just a fantastic game, it's a fantastic work of art.
