Team Ninja still seems to have no idea how to optimize on PC. Only took me 30 minutes of playtime with 3 crashes and stutters all over the place. Not hating on the game for those that it works for since I do love Nioh, Ninja Gaiden etc. but on my 4070 this has been my experience and troubleshooting for too long risks not getting a refund. If the new Ninja Gaiden plays this terribly on PC that will be very sad.

How do you consistently max out defender by 30-40 when its entirely dependent on enemy units coming into your territory to fight you?

Collector is pretty similar. Unless you're specifically built to get hero items or tons of essence, you're not guaranteed to get enough hero items to meet the major and minor renown caps by 30-40.

Finding legendary units is guaranteed after a certain point. It will happen in every game. Leveling your units up is also pretty much guaranteed, unless you're getting them all killed constantly. I could see defender and collector OCCASIONALLY being faster, depending on build and playstyle, but it can also take way longer for the same reason.

Only the ruler who is non-melee becomes Defender. And you grab the land first and then clear. It's probably inefficient though in raw economics terms.

You can absolutely, and easily, max out Collector by turn 30-40. Loot and you forge whatever T2 you need. I do it every game.

Gloryseeker I haven't tested, so I will give it a shot at some point in the future.

Are you taking a build that specifically improves the amount of hero items you get or essence? Because coincidentally getting enough items/essence to fill every slot early enough to tick up the passive renown gain shouldn't be that consistent. You only get them occasionally from things like infestations and wonders, or from other heroes, and without an outside source of essence, you're only getting that from hero items too.

Also, I'm not talking about rulers specifically, so if you're exclusively talking about what ambitions are best for a RULER only, that's a different scenario.

Looks like the answer to my question is yes. That's the only reasonable answer. So, essentially, you are just buying the new routes that come with it. Which is actually a pretty good deal tbh. I went ahead and grabbed this.

The expedition style buildings like we see in the Mycofields and Exor Village would be really cool to start with.

Black mesa style survey equipment would be unfathomably cool to use in portal worlds, too!
