anyone thinking Starfield should have been innovative is likely extremely disappointed but me I'm ok because I got what I wanted out of Starfield. A classic BGS formula game. This is why critics of the game are more often than not 100% wrong in their negative opinions.

I just want to thank the OP for such a creative title. It says a lot for in a small space and gets you thinking. Good work.

That sounds like someone who just needs their next fix of the same old formula to satisfy a craving. Thankfully, there are enough gamers out there with a more adventurous palate.

Start the game, then close steam. The game runs fine, but doesn't seem to crash anymore.

thinking about it again today, you know about 'order surprise?' like trying to time and give orders in such a way that they surprise even the person giving the orders. it's considered an old timey line-warfare command structure, but there's several reasons for that and they explain the factions' invasion strategies.

basically in a line war there's so little room just to have everyone stand, so that they can concentrate their fire and achieve overwhelming volume of fire, that in order to have the military approach and attack in a coordinated manner, and respond to enemy counterattacks, they need to stand in certain formations and approach in certain ways. just so that they've got enough room to move and also move out of the way for the next line to shoot. (or to stand and do rank fire; whatever your war of attrition calls for at the moment.)

as a result of these formations, the ranks and positions and even the movements of the army itself become static. they need to be coordinated at a grand, massive level, even if they are marching around in concentric circles to make a fluid five point defensive array that can and will defeat armies larger and smaller than it with fewer casualties than anyone ought to take. this isn't people running back and forth with messages all the time, like in sun tzu, but coordinated drilled and predetermined formations like in red cliff. people adapt, but it is in implementing known strategies devised before hand.

because of this grand scale of organization, these orders plans formations and tactics are not just written out and drilled months in advance; they are planned in advance for years with careful speculation and attention to every aspect of an enemy force, its movements, its formations, and how your own people respond on an individual basis to seeing them. years and years of planning, with your top and only top military minds, the best of the best of what's in your hands, so like 1-300 people across your nation probably. your 'five star' generals, who can design and train a force to make five concentric rings of pentagonal fort out of troops that can react and burst into 'flowers of death' under the cover of their own artillery danger close.

so spies can just sneak in and steal those docs and ohhh man, your army might not work anymore. your nation's career might be over; decades could pass before you have another functioning battle plan. you won't have the same army anymore; you have nothing. one man did this. one spy.

...but if nobody even knows what the orders are until you give them, even if they know your battle plan they might not be able to respond in time. for example, you start in formation a, and you can turn into formation c d and e, and you have plans for this and your enemy is watching for this, and they have cornered you already you are on a losing retreating battle because of all this.

then suddenly you say "okay, and...formation....B!"

and your army turns around and shoots the everloving ♥♥♥♥ out of the enemy and they are in chaos and disarray despite knowing EVERYTHING about you.

maybe this is a fluid moment, you have outdone yourself and your whole army in this moment, maybe they just stole the first few layers of planning and not the whole shebang.

either way, the "okay men, and....♥♥♥♥!" posture is critical to implementing this surprise strategy.

the automatons implement this with sudden overwhelming irresistable invasions that we cannot take a handle on save to respond to and clean up after it is too late. our floors are a mess, we might wash the brown off but it'll never smell quite right again. petrichor is now the flavor of the decour.

this inhibits our planning because we despair. not only about our inability to stop it, but maybe even the wasteful and unhelpful nature of the process itself. maybe even, in our wildest feverish drunken war binge, the commander's delight, we fantasize about having such forcewide discipline that we simply coat ourselves in ♥♥♥♥ and make the floor strategy Impossible. Redundant. Superflous. Absurd. Who would even bother, then?

and painting ourselves in ♥♥♥♥ has not affected the automatons, although they are clearly as mystified by the gesture as we are at their inefficiencies.

I normally don't post on forums but I saw that news about your staff getting sick. I wish them well, and hope they get plenty of rest so they recover, but please don't rush it!

I admit I would really have liked to see an unlockable Extra Edit for G3 similar to how the PS2 version handled it.

Enemies models are glitching if the are killed under the decay effect (fire and shock works fine, cold not using yet). If humanoid enemy is effected by decay and dies, doest matter how, its fingers locks in position in the air and body falls as usual, so model stretches to stay in one piece. Saw it with Executioner, revenant, mercenary, assassin. Will look at other models during next runs.

In my current run in the newest update, i also did run into this issues. 53 missions completed and 2 welding machines dropped or found during missions.

That thing said, i feel in the new update you might want to check the trading option from the factions you did not have negative reputations with, check all the available possible trade in every system even if the items you need are not listed on the locations. Because the often do have other items to trade and if you are lucky you might find some welding machines to buy.

Mecha games are mega niche on the west and this one is a competitive mecha game which will make it super niche. 80% of players left the game on the first 2 weeks when there were no queue issues, Welkin had 72% pickrate so majority of people were happy killing and only 7% played mashmak 5 times so they didn´t experience the broken aquila and stellaris there. So no, the 80% large player loss its not simply because of a "bad game" or "balancing issues" its mainly because its a competitive mecha game and mecha games are super niche and never meant for such a large playerbase up on the 50k or 100k. The only way this game got 100k + day 1 players was the marketing and streamer push and people were curious to try it and see what the fuss was all about. Also when many found out u only see your waifu/husband 1% of gameplay time and instead play 99% of the time with a husk of giant metal they left even quicker.
