And in DS1 it wasn't quite so easy to just shield through everything. There were attacks that you really needed to avoid. Like you can't just shield through the bridge dragon's fire, even if you have a fire resistant shield. The extended jet burns right through your stamina and then kills you.

The gaping dragon was one of the coolest bosses ever. The design was awesome and it had a whole bunch of attacks. It's charge move would just knock you down and shred through you. Getting caught in it is pretty much a guaranteed instant death. The boss becomes really easy once you know it's attacks and how they work, but man, that first fight was incredible.

In DS2 it's a bunch of knight characters with 2-3 different attacks. Like Velstadt. I've heard people regard him as one of the best bosses in the game. What are his attacks? Swoop, swoop, donk. Swoop, swoop, donk. He did a thing half way through that I assume is powering up like Artorias, but I wouldn't know because unlike Artorias this guy was a pushover and I was able to easily block it with minimal loss to my stamina. He didn't even seem to speed up at all so it was very easy to back off and recharge my stamina when needed.
DS1 is pisspoor easy with shield. You could block 100% damage from flying Calameet easily for example. Its just red dragon was terribly designed, sometimes triggering one-shot damage on the same attack, sometimes falling in the void and die, sometimes outright refusing to go in melee and you forced to shoot 200+ arrrows, if you wanna kill him, which isnt fun. Funny enough, they added similar dragon in DS3, also waste of 200+ arrows just for couple thousands souls and titanite.

Gaping dragon has at best 6 attacks, and if you on the side, he only use 3.
Its a sh1tty boss, opposing zero threat and only difficult part in this fight are his giant hitbox during charge attack. Besides his looks, its dumb variation of "bull" type of boss, like Executioner Chariot from DS2 or Blazing Bull from Sekiro, where instead of circle strafing, you just run pass him to the side at 90 degree angle from head entire battle.

Yea, you can block almost every humanoid boss in souls series. Does it makes bossfight bad? You can literally do the same with Artorias btw.
Why you acting so surprised, shields was always been an easy mode for dark souls series.
