That is not the logic being utilized in any of going conversation about these kinds of topic and is misleading at best.

Mass appeal would explicitly exclude all contentious topics. Genuine mass appeal is to attract as many people as possible irrespective of their ideology, identity, values, etc.

That is not what has been happening over the past several years. Politics, religion and all other contentious topics would be strictly left out of the games altogether.

Transgender top surgery scars, as in a medieval game about dragons and magic like Dragon Age: The Veilguard, is pandering to the identity of a minority demographic.

There are plenty more examples, but the point remains the same.

Your conspiracy theory has multiple faulty premises:
Gamers make up 36% of the worlds population with 80% (2.47 billion) being adult and 53% (1.7 billion) are male. The idea that the majority of those people are progressives and injecting identity politics into games is appealing to as many of those people as possible is an insane assertion.
Being the lion share of gamers are adults the idea that developers can somehow broaden the audience numbers beyond the current generational demographics is naive.
Most adults have already made up their mind politically so the notion of shoehorning political values, which always goes in one political direction, is somehow not a form of virtue signaling is inaccurate.
The assertion from the developers that the presence of partisan values in games is still entertaining to a wider audience is disingenuous and misleading at best.

Well, that's just statistically and factually inaccurate as I have already shown. We, adult males, are in fact the largest demographic in the gaming space.

Also, we're not all progressives and the backlashes shows a large number of us want our content depoliticized until developers learn again how to handle such topics competently.

I know, shocking. The only group the devs should cater to should be the paying customers, which usually end up being an existing part of an already established fanbase for the IP.

Nice patch! I did not like the armory system in the beginning, whoever, after playing a lot i did not felt any balance issues in the matches, and gives a nice progression feeling to the game.
