My house mate and I are having this issue lately too. It only started happening recently once our ISP started to have the occasional momentary drop outs. The drops last less than a second and most apps / games stay connected the entire time, maybe just a moment of high ping before going back to normal.

For Peak. while we stay connected in game, at some point we lose the ability to hear each other in game (though we stay connected and can hear each other in discord still). At the same time, one of us will usually see a steam notification pop-up saying the other has started playing peak. Then a few min later one of us will drop out of the game (usually the host) and see the same photon room error message returned.

We try connecting again and while that sometimes works its only a temporary solution and we drop out again a few min later. We haven't been able to get past the Tropics without the entire session crashing or both of us loosing connection since this has started happening.

Its a shame as this has been my favourite co-op game of the year by far and I want to 100% it, but there's no chance of playing with friends while this issue keeps happening.

When you say failures, what exactly do you mean ?
Does it make something different or just make the error noise ?
I just ask because that has never happened to me and no one reports that regularly which they would if it was a game bug.
Maybe try verifying game files on Steam ?

Thanks for this. Let me know how it works on your Windows Box. For me it's been a total game changer. I am really hoping others get a chance to experience this game as it should be these days, smooth as butter!

I'm working on a massive Elden Ring mod, but I will definitely find time to test performance on the potato. It's a GTX m960, 10-year-old laptop. Game runs smooth on medium at 1080p surprisingly, but it would be nice to see if I can squeeze anything more out of it.

Does DXVK work on other games, too? Would be fun to push that laptop.

I keep hearing about people asking if there is a story, a plot, a goal for the protagonist, a final boss and all that so I decided to post this to make it clear for everyone:

Q. Why no story?
A. Red51 has stated many times that it is better to have no story than a poorly written one and writing has become rather competitive in the 2020s almost on the same level as major cinematic films so leaving the story up to the player is the best move.

Q. Where's the final boss?
A. If you consider the skellies or spiders to be a final boss or even the hell hound then there you go but again this implies there is an epic story with 3 or more acts.

Q. Any romances?
A. Nope, not going to be any unless you mod one in. Your other option is to bring your spouse or girlfriend or your significant other to play the game with you on shared worlds.

Q. What's the ultimate goal in this game?
A. To eventually build up an entire civilization and probably find other lands to also build upon and survive against the hostiles namely the bandits, the skellies and other hostiles.

I hope this made it all clear for you, if not, not my fault you expected something else.

Awesome. I was running out of suggestions. My next tip was gonna be to go to the mod makers. Not to be a jerk but let's compare it to a car. If you get a brand new engine, as long as you stick to the stock settings the engine mfr.(GSC) can help you. But if you start adding hi performance or non stock parts(mods in this case) You gotta go to the performance people (mod makers in our case) to figure out what's going on.But thanks for not just complaining and giving us details instead to help you. EA and Ubis launcher has made me so mad it's close to inducing rage. So that's why I gave you some points. (And I'm old as dirt so don't use 'em much). But I still like trophies so that should make me shibibi cool,yeah?(No clue if that makes sense. Probably not)Have fun in the zone stalker!

I think you are confusing me with kkgobkk. I never called it one single box. Since you seemed to think the box you needed to check had to be done in the Options menu when the game is already open, I decided to give more detailed instructions, since checking the box does not involve launching the game at all. I hope you can get the game working for you.
