As grampers said hard to narrow down. Two favorites are African penguins and seals. As an underwater tunnel fan, I enjoy watching those jets and blimps. :)

Permanent death spirals? No, not really. Icarus can always manual mine and reboot the world from scratch. It may be rough for a bit but there's no hard obstacles.

Overwhelmed by dark fog? Only a danger on the first planet, and only a danger at very high difficulty settings. After reaching the space stage, tearing it all back down takes deliberate and expansive effort.

Stranded in space with no fuel and no energy? That's an unfortunate game state and I'm not a fan of it. The gas giant softlock was cured, it does make sense to address other softlock scenarios in some way.

For some reason I immediately remembered League of Legends.

Well GameFAQs came to mind. The site has lost 95% of its population and the a good chunk of the dregs that are left are suddenly identifying as female now. Well there comes tangible benefits, like a brigade of mod white knights to act as sword and shield. Also the activist mods have forbidden users from calling out larpers. Users must believe all gender claims. Essentially, it is mod enforced larping lol. The site has also swung hard to the left, mostly because anyone disagreeing has been banned for wrongthink. It is very much a mod enforced echo chamber.
