Taxes are on a 28day cycle. 14 days for taxes due, and then 14 days of overdue before your base shields are dropped. OP said 2 weeks which is not long enough for your base to destroyed by not paying taxes, instead we have information that players were griefing other players using NPC's to destroy bases. So yeah.

Still not the games fault.

People complain about cheating and how bad it is, Dice/EA try to make a solution that effective and powerful and is proving its self that it works in the beta, Now people are mad of the type of anti cheat it is... the community asks a solutions that works and at this moment day and age kernel level anti cheats are the only thing that show to be working on any level. I do know the risks and issues of this cheat but that just means you need to more aware of your computer and scanning it for issues. If your worried about personal data on your computer you should already have some type of protection on your computer already if your playing games.

So you either cry about cheaters that will never go away because the cheating community is evolving faster than any anti cheat company that can keep up, Or just be more aware what is going with your computer and do regular scans before and or after playing. It does take that long to do.

As one that actually own the game it actually looks great. Gonna jump in later and test the new ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

You need to upgrade farming and industrial buildings if you want to stop accumulating debt - not that the debt affects the game play except that it stops you getting tribute products from your settlement - a minor free income stream.

Settlements are with you for ever unless you quit, so there is no hurry to upgrade them - they are supposed to be a very slow side-quest.

Most efficient way is to upgrade existing farm/industry, then take building opportunities that come along, upgrading any that are farm/industry, also trade areas. When the game stops offering new builds, upgrade saloon/fishpond for happiness points, then habitats for happiness and extra beds - this last set of buildings always make a loss but it doesn't change with upgrades.

Then it's a long wait for population to slowly creep up to fill those beds - looks like about a year of real time. In the mean time you will get management decisions that give you extra production, happiness, beds (rarely) and less maintenance costs.

The only real point in paying any attention to settlements is that the management decisions can be amusing.
