Many things don't work like you think they would.

Like exceeded your energy budget in evolving? Nope, you can't even add things that increase the budget. You have to revert your last change first, then increase the budget, and then you can add in what you did before.
That is pretty stupid.

The others are dependencies. Sure, more complex guts only with a mouth, or tree leaves with a tall stem.
But why TF are those only needed when you want to add parts? Large roots and tall stems aren't needed anymore once you have the tree leaves on and can be removed.
And once you have your guts, no need for a mouth anymore.
So what is the point of the dependencies?

Also:
I get that lungs require air, but if you have an animal that is in water and has lungs, it shouldn't automatically drown. You know there is air above the water.
Also: Whales: Are we a joke to you?

To top it off, I constantly have to pump in CO₂ or my plants die. And the levels are ridiculously high. And have no influence on the temperature whatsoever.
What do I mean by ridiculously high? Like 69 (nice)% CO₂. That level of CO₂ would kill most living things, including plants. As it hasn't been that high since the Hadean. (Also, when the atmospheric pressure was so high, water boiled at 160°C.)
Anyways, CO₂ levels aren't measured in percent (per 100), or even in promille (per 1000), it is measured in ppm (parts per million).

Planets are ridiculously tiny. When measured in cells (which can hold one animal, one fungus, and one plant, only).

Land animals and plants can't be imported on land.

No warning when you are about to overwrite an existing entity with a new one. Actions that cost cosmic energy do even cost said energy when the action fails (e.g. no target). Example: You are billed for dust removal even when there is no dust.
Similar to evolution points in cell stage. Some things can only be added once to a cell, others twice. If you evolve something that can only be added once, but try a second time, you lose the evo energy without getting anything.

Planet tools have no fine grain. Lower terrain? Sure, from +5km to -5km in one click.
Water on the surface behaves erratically.
And even cell tools. Pull cells? See that cell you wanted zoom by out of the other side of the screen. *facepalm*

Want to know why your life form is dying? Look in the log. But not for the creature, for the planet cell. Too bad your animal moved (they tend to do that) and the data is gone.

I could go on and on.

It is extremely rough around the edges.

The concept is fun, tho.
