I think I've come to a conclusion. Due to limitations within the engine itself alongside legal troubles, it's possible that this was merely to make it seem flashy and more modern (even though not much was changed to make it as modern as possible), but the fact that you get pretty much both WAD files is good. Me personally, I don't see an upside to this repackage of the series other than owning the WADs to utilize the full potential of this game in other engines.
However, Nightdive does more than just repackaging games, if I'll be honest, especially if we look at the games they have remastered previously. Like with the Turok series, which if we remember, ran like an old man trying to speedrun his peen into a vending machine, and causing it to become the most cursed, but underrated games out there. Then you have Nightdive just swooping in to max out the potential for the games itself with several features other than just repackaging things in the same engine and shrugging at the community when we expected this to be yet another modern remaster.
Point of the fact: Just put these WADs in GZDoom, or simply disable vertical looking. For some, this can be unfortunate, but it truly isn't that serious. My take on this entire discussion was to beg a question as to how and why Nightdive would spend their time and money to make something not as impactful as the rest of their works, regardless of legal issues or not. The whole point of a remaster is to overhaul the aspect of the genre with much more QoL, yet GZDoom does that, and they're fine. If their intention to make this was for personal reasons, then more power to them. However, I don't see myself consuming this content they put out other than to take the WADs and give them more life in GZDoom's Engine. If you enjoy it the way it is, then by all means, play to your hearts content. Me, however, it's lowered my expectations for any of their future releases, and since achievements do not track through GZDoom, it'll probably be played for merely 5 minutes before it sits in the void of games to collect dust like the rest (lol).
Whether anyone agrees with me or not is not exactly my mission here, but to get opinions on this discussion is the primary objective to what people may consider this game now and in the future.
