Sure, I get wanting more from the game if it's not fulfilling for you. What I'm pointing to are the tools you have available.

With the way the game is, having full control over a faction's clan parties would make the game extremely easy. The player already has a large number of advantages over the AI. Effectively turning off the AI for your faction would make the game dull in my opinion - although your mileage may vary.

What I think is happening is that people who are buying the game in recent sales don't have any particular attachment to it, so they're a little harsher in their reviews.

I bought the game on Switch (it's on sale just like here on Steam), and I came here to see what people were saying because I found the game quite annoying in the way it breaks your rythm in the name of a kinda boring exploration. The levels don't flow, and if you decide to take advantage of the character's momentum and pass through one part without stopping, you're immediately penalized because a door closes behind you and you realize you've missed a collectible that will require you to restart the level or play again later. This makes the gameplay so unpleasant.

This is exactly my experience with both games.
They had been on my radar. I was aware people on steam appeared to love / rate them both highly.

Picked them up on Nintendo and really disliked them.
Everything you say about flow / momentum is exactly my frusstrations.

These games try too hard to be direct copies for certain games and do a terrible job at it.
I really feel like much of the praise has come from people that don't own a Switch and haven't played the games these try to copy.

I can play DK Country Returns HD all day. Replaying levels is fun. Trying to 100 percent that game is tough but fun. Every level offers some fun unique design. The challenge rooms are fun to beat.

This game offers none of that. It tries to copy all of that but does so in such as weak way. Its like the developers were so starved of ideas alll they could do was try to copy a game some of them worked on in the past from memory. They don't even nail the mechanics successfully.

For the love of god please remove the stupid resource gates on events it makes my time feel wasted and I've stopped suggesting the game to friends or getting active friends back in or helping keep people up to date. The resource gates are actively killing goodwill and drive to play

After the recent upgrade the game is playing pretty well on my mini pc.

It’s a Ryzen 3550H with integrated graphics. It’s older sure and doesn’t have the most vram obviously, but it handles plenty of older 3D games at 1080p and 720p is no problem.

My desktop resolution is set at 2560x1440 and the game runs slow/choppy 33-45 FPS on fullscreen mode.

So I have to switch my desktop resolution to 1080p then launch the game and it plays smooth with intended frame rate.

But there’s no option with the in game menu to change the resolution.

So is the game is just scaling to meet the same resolution as the monitor? and that requires more processing and vram?

It seems adding the suffix for display options to the stream launch parameters
-screen-height 1920 -screen-width 1080 has some effect on improvement.

but only when changing the desktop resolution through windows settings first then launching the game does the game play really smoothly.

Could someone tell me if there are other launch parameters I should use to ensure it’s really switching to 1080p on launch?

Would be great to add the in game option of choosing a desired resolution for game to display in fullscreen.

I know this machine is older and not the best graphics but I still can’t grasp why these kind of 2D pixel graphics need such high resources, and this machine handles so many 2D and even 3D games with no problem.

If it’s just because of scaling to high resolution, which for these pixel graphics still look awesome and the same as lower resolution…then an option to set the resolution through the in game menu would be awesome. (Hope I didn’t just over look that setting but pretry sure its not there)

PvP or griefing players, base building, plus upcoming content. As long as you don't make this your only game you play, you should be fine.
