And since this is a re-release that wants to be true to the original but with basic modern features, it does not "need" or "is a must" to have vertical freelook.

Also, and since you yourself mentioned it, if you are so annoyed by the lack of vertical look, just play on a sourceport. You're ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about a problem that has a solution but apparently "it's not enough" or "it's not what I want" so keep ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ all you want, but don't expect me to agree with you.

You've pretty much nailed it. People like OP keep saying saying 'no, this isn't just a re-release even though the store description clearly says it. It's a remaster because I say it is. But it's also a bad remaster because it doesn't have the features I want and can easily get from mods and source ports. Nightdive bad!'.

Nightdive has already made it clear which titles are remasters to them. It's literally in the game title. When people don't want to accept their definition and make their own, we get pointless topics like these. And since we're likely to get a few more stealth drops every Quakecon for a few more years, this is going to be the same problem repeating itself every year.

### Final Thought

Whether in politics or game balance, the most visible complaints aren’t always the most complete picture. Sometimes the quiet majority values things that aren’t being talked about as loudly — and keeping those perspectives in mind can lead to better outcomes for everyone.

That's the reason I dropped Galactic Civilizations 4 completely.

I was active on their Discord for a year, and there were some very loud people who endlessly complained about mechanic after mechanic, and that "the game was too easy". Trading was bad, colonizing was bad, everything that made game fun was bad. In the end, devs listened, and they very heavily nerfed the game all around, and right after a good DLC (of course it also nerfed cool things added in the DLC). When told that "you can adjust difficulty, most people play single player anyway" the loud complainers never agreed. Then the big patch nerfing Specialists dropped which proveably (simple math) completely destroyed viability of playing tall games instead of wide ones. Funnily enough, biggest complaint was "playing wide is too easy!"

In the end, I left that mess because it was completely unworth of my time and effort.

I've seen the exact same thing happen to a Minecraft mod 12 years ago - gutting all the fun things in name of "balance".

Leave single player games alone and stop endlessly balancing them.

Problematic new gen of TF2 players and obsession with Rick May

No, it's just they don't break any rules. And people like you are the reason why volunteer mods were bad and hopefully aren't coming back. Volunteer mods were by far the worst thing. Imagine some average garbage community server with really really unprofessional moderation but it's a forum. They weren't also banning people not strictly based on rules, some bans were clearly bias driven. There is a good example of such behavior on the non-VALVE game forums. Cheated achievements in some game but didn't break any forum rules? Boom, a perma ban. Or dare you to bring up a controversial topic which tackles provocatively something, you would be banned. This whole thread is a satire but it tries to send an important message. That is that the whole Rick May thing is like a cult. This is some very very unhealthy behavior to build such para-social relationships to a dead person to who they have 0 bounds and did nothing significant but voice a character in a 2007 FPS. But then if someone tackles actual important issues going on in the world, the very same people from this thread who were so over protective of Rick May for some odd reasons do not care of children dying for example. But no no the trolls are bad.
Exactly the point of the thread. No idea about others who do them, don't know them.
